That's not the point. The point is they know better than us, they have more information than us. They don't make roster decisions based on hey, lets give this a try.

It's more of a based on... x,y,z let's give this a try

They will need to consider cap and roster implications!
- dragonoffrost

a move will involve waivers, but there really isnt much to be concerned about unless you're worried about a player like Schultz getting claimed on waivers

I'll let you do the math

TODAYS CAP HIT [This is the sum of cap hits due to the current active roster and injuries. The daily tracker stores this value each day to determine the projected cap space value.] : $72,211,667

CURRENT CAP SPACE [The current cap space is the total sum of full cap hit values that can be added to the teams roster to remain compliant below the cap ceiling at seasons end.] : $809,025

I'd rather they just replace VdV with Read on Saturday.
- Feanor

thats where I would start

Best guess: they think it's more important for Leier to continue his development in the AHL than it is to bring him up and play him 7-8 minutes per game on the 4th line.
- BiggE

And that's fine. But I'd be interested in giving a guy like Weal, who likely isn't going to develop more in the AHL, a shot in this lineup.

Bu, you know, consistently bad is consistency. Wouldn't wanna breakup our scoring prowess or world-class PK by scratching a player like VandeVelde for a guy with more offensive prowess.

So in response to my post about the Flyers could and maybe should try something different, you say if they wanted to that they would. Thank you for that wonderful glimpse into the Flyers front office.
- YuenglingJagr

Incorrect. I said that if they felt it would make the team better, they would.

It's unfortunate that Read, Raffl and Couturier have been injured rather than players who are much easier to replace.

I don't know, that seems like the way the y come up with which defenseman they're gonna scratch on any given game day.

And they don't "know" better than us. They have more information than us which they use to make an educated guess. They don't "know" for sure how any players insertion/removal will work until they it.

That would be my guess as well.

I think Hackstol trusts VDV to go out there and do what is expected of him shift after shift. No more no less.

From what I've seen of Weal, he's Akeson part 2. Not good enough to play a top 9 role at the NHL level and not suited for a 4th line/PK/energy role either.

That's your opinion. Unfortuately, they don't share their reasoning on lineup changes, other than cliches. All we can do is speculate about it.

Maybe you don't think they know better than us, but they do.

I think I used the words "frustratingly healthy" when referring to what I expected from their defense a few months back

Agai they don't "know" until they've tried it. They can use information to make an educated guess/assumption, but unless it's tried, they can't say they know 100% for sure.

In my opinion Weal is a scoring line player, who is not good enough to play on a scoring line at the NHL level.
