They need to tighten this up. When they come back from the bye...they will find their selves out of a playoff position. Wouldn't surprise me when they get back on a hot streak when we all start counting them out. They are the definition of a bubble team.

Even though the Flyers forward back check on the Krug goal was bad, Streit got caught in no mans land and could never catch up. That goal was on 32 more then the forwards.

They'll be picking in the lottery this year if this continues.

I would personally like them to stay on an even keel on the bubble than to keep going from one extreme or the other. Just a little consistency would be nice. They got away with a lot of bad habits during the win streak, and it has snowballed downhill since.

I think you should watch the replay again Marc. Streit was out wide covering Marchand who had the puck in the neutral zone. There is no way he could recover to get to Krug on the center drive to the net. It doesn't appear to me that Wiese, who was the 3rd forward high, busted it to get back. Krug out skated Wiese right to the net.

I will watch it again.
First look was Streit was trying to pinch up, and could never get back into the play, was hung up in no mans land.

Bs looked faster then the Flyers all day.

Meh, he's ok. He'll play 2 or 3 really good games then he'll disappear for a few weeks. But yeah, he's the best of that bunch for sure.

Edit: I also think we've seen the best of Raffl at this point, it's likely all downhill from here

Streit had a half a zone head start and was really slow to turn. Krug is his guy. But Weise was right with Krug and should have picked him up when he realized Streit was getting beat.

The source of the tracking as well as the play being extremely objective

Yeah, exactly. That's why it is so valuable.

Raffl is an important player for the Flyers. Unless something happens that is unforseen, when the Flyers become a better team, Raffl will be a key support player.

That is incorrect. Bergeron is the puck carrier, and Streit is right on him gapped well in the neutral zone when Bergeron hits the red line. Answer this question for me. With Marchand being the puck carrier at the point of attack through the neutral zone, if Streit does not mark him, who covers Bergeron? Or is he allowed to skate straight to the net?

He is struggling..Like Coots, like Jake, like Simmonds...

Simply put they need more from Giroux..A lot more.
They also need more from all their top players though Schenn is producing right now.

I get it. But the others are at least getting chances. Giroux seems to be all perimiter play and doesnt seem engaged.

Giroux isn't a top line center anymore and Schenn producing?... Only scores only PP. top paid guys aren't producing & it starts with the captain. But it isn't his fault it's the players he plays with apparently.

He never hit the red line. When he passed the puck, Streit had more than a 15 foot head start on Krug, but it was completely gone by the time Streit turned so slowly and Weise had stopped skating (probabl because the trailer tends to be his responsibility as F1)

Also, you can mark someone and not allow them to the net without letting other players skate right behind you for a breakaway....

Giroux is really starting to concern me. Simmonds and Voracek, for the most part, have played really well this season. Giroux though, except for a few games, has been a total non factor at ES this season. He's an undersized guy who gets banged up a lot and is pushing 30. He seems to have lost half a step and it really makes a difference. He's still a good player, and lethal on the pp, but at this point in his career he's a 2C. No matter how good the Flyers D prospects are, they must find a new top center. In a couple of years when this team is ready to compete for the Cup, a 31-32 year old Giroux won't be that guy.

Krug was never Streit's check. Bergeron passes the puck cross ice, at the red line.

You're basically saying that it was Streit's responsibility to cover two guys. Streit was out wide covering Bergeron, who was the puck carrier. The head start was irrelevant. The replay is clear.

The off wing dman has the center lane drive. You don't take a man in the neutral zone and mark him until you get the puck back. It's hockey, not basketball.
