I see a 10 game win streak (something they havent done in about 2400 games) a bit out of the norm, yes... Im not trying to be a Richard either. I just think a win streak of about 3-4 games.. not out of the norm. Winning 7 straight is out of the norm IMO...

I also thought that they would be improved this year, seeing how they improved as the season moved on last year.

I looked at a few things:
Hak's second year.
Additions of Provy and Konecny
Weise > White
Healthy MDZ
Full year of Ghost
Couts continuing his offensive growth.

Now that was being optimistic. I did expect some bumps for Ghost, but not to this level.

I didnt expect MDZ to regress.

I didnt expect White to have more points than Weise half way through the season.

You cant plan for injuries.. and I definitely didnt think you would be seeing AMac on the top D pair...

All in all, I did expect better. I expected them to be a bubble team. I didnt expect a record long win streak or prolonged losing streaks.

Each time you reload the page to see if that fixed it, it counts as a site hit for EK.

Dastardly clever.

It's very interesting how things work. I understand people don't like his contract, neither do I. He had a rough year last year, and was sent to the AHL. Then he was recalled and played well and helped the Flyers get into the playoffs, when they had some key injuries to players such as Del Zotto. This season, he's had a few stretches where he didn't play well, and he had a sub par game last night, but overall, he's played well. The first post of the thread is "anyone done with 47 yet? Pretty funny.

I'm sure you can tell by my post I am pretty patient. I agree with the way Hextall is doing business. May not like all the moves but overall I think he is doing a great job. Being at the Phantoms game Saturday and watching Lyon, Sanheim, Morin and even Hagg has me feeling positive. watching the world juniors has me feeling positive. But my patience is running out with AMAC. He seems like a good guy and I want him to do well but I am just so frustrated with him and the fact he is making 5 million. that contract is hideous.

I agree with you. However, this year has 3 or 4 separate 10 game win streaks. So this year they are seemingly "the norm".
- mickel25

How many 10-game segments have there been in the league? Then compare that to the number of 10-game win streaks.

I'm relatively certain you'll find the 10-game win streaks are out of the norm.

For example, the Flyers have had 34 10-game segments. Only one was a 10-game win streak.

It'll go away, eventually. Just like Vinny and Umberger who were driving people insane last season went away.

With buyouts and retention available, I can't see MacDonald staying in Philly all the way till April 2020.

Isn't it frustrating that as soon as we get rid of one piece of dead weight, another one is brought in?

I am a fan of Hextall, but not fixing a bottom 6 that has been a sack of poop for more than just this season is becoming an issue.

Sky isn't falling, but its a frustrating time. Fix those damn lines and you may as well put all the anchors together because trying to "spread it out" has negated anything positive.

Weise-Schenn-Simmonds is the best 3rd line we've had in a long time. Even if you swap Simmonds with Read that would still be true because Read has bounced back from his past two seasons where he struggled to move well on the ice.

Weise is a turd. What's become more clear is that Couturier/Schenn are nowhere near Carter/Richards. Maybe not a realistic expectation but I am let down by those two.

Expected more than "passengers" quite honestly. A guy who needs to be carried offensively to put in goals, and another who is okay at shutting down forwards. How exciting. The lack of further development by those two will be hard to offset for this club imo.

Right, and by doing that you've esentially cancelled any positives from the G and Couturier line.

Raffl and Read with G is a joke. Both are 3rd line players, and Read isn't getting more than a one year contract with the league after his current one if that.

Closer to that for sure. I suppose I just expected more from Couturier and Schenn. Although you cannot deny Schenn's numbers. I do think Brayden has value, but he does need that set up man.

Dont get me wrong, those Richards/Carter trades were a work of magic.

Couturier's offensive game is worrisome. Schenn is very streaky. Would like to see more consistency from him. Team has a ton of holes.

# 47 is what he is....a serviceable D man. As some have stated he has had stretches where he has sucked but has also given them some good minutes. His contract blows, but he is here for the foreseeable future. Honestly if he's playing in a third group pairing 12 minutes a night no one is going to mention his name unless the ugly contract effects the team.
as far as Wiese .....I get the signing...some size ...some speed and some toughness. He just has played like crappola....I hope some of the kids currently in the minors get a shot this year....Laughton, Morin, Weal, Leirer and maybe even Sanheim late in the year...I look at a team like the Leafs this year....got rid of all the dead wood. playing all the rookies and a highly entertaining team to watch. Hopefully the second half see's a changing of some of these guys.

Serviceable dmen shouldn't be getting 20 plus mins a night on the first pair. its not his fault, per se, that he is in that spot or that he signed that deal. he would have been an idiot to pass on it. But it is a problem he is in the position of being way overused. He is a third pair dman. I can't wait til the young defense are ready. Counting the days
