Can you guys please keep that poop in Canada? And take Bieber with it, too?
- jmatchett383

Bieber is done man. I have not heard anything about him, and he seems to be fading. Most of the poopty one's do with time.

Speaking of celebs, the gf went to Hawaii for xmas with family, somehow got into this hotel "concert" that wasn't really a concert if you get my drift.

Weird Al, Steven Tyler and some other no name singers. Jim Carrey of all people did a duet with Steven Tyler.

Where has all this gone?

- Just5

He was pretty good just last season at 5 on 5 scoring - better than Voracek, in fact. Only 6 of his 22 goals and 27 of his 67 points came on the PP.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJrdN3Bw03Q

I'm not saying there isn't room for concern, but there's also reason to believe he can bounce back from his current level of 1.06 points per 60 at 5 on 5.

He wasn't a bad passer when he had time and space. Whenever he had to retrieve a corner dump or had a forechecker on him, the question wasn't whether the turnover would occur, more a matter of how it would occur. And his coverage was below adequate.

Bieber has actually seemed to clean up his act. I think he realized that being a douchebag isn't really all that great of a thing. Music still sucks though.

His voice was never anything special. Just like most other artists that rely on electronic sound effects.

Make someone do an acoustic single and you find out quickly what they are made of.

I've probably seen this card 1000 times, and never before realized how small their sticks look. They look like junior sticks.

He was a 15 year old millionaire with horrible guidance/parents. I'm positive that most males would have acted the same way given the circumstances. I know from age 17 - 20 I was a real douchebag, too. I just didn't have literally everything I could possibly want in front of me.

The boonies.

It hasn't been a crazy winter in terms of cold, I think most snow in 80+ years or something though.

Just very up/down. Next week its supposed to be around the freezing mark only. Global warming was always a dumb way to put it, I feel like 'drastic climate change' or something is more accurate.

I think a part of it that he was surrounded by people who basically told him he could do no wrong. Basically, he was the most spoiled child in history. I totally understand that, but that doesn't meant I have to condone or absolve him of what he did. The Anne Frank thing, in particular, was messed up.

I love Steven Tyler/Aerosmith. Would never walk out.

They did a thing years back about his vocal cords. Some kind of documentary, was interesting.

He got a lot of heat about the late onset of puberty as well. Kid hit the gym though, good for him.

I can't feel bad. He made so much money and doesn't have to work a real day in his life. Boo hoo.

Feels like that was always the case with the NBA, no? All the CBA exceptions built into their labor contract always seemed to discourage most player movement.
- johndewar

The previous CBA gave teams an ability to offer longer deals, but not necessarily more money. The NBA has a rule on max salaries that are based on years in the league.

Tier 1 max (0-6 years) = 25% of the cap
Tier 2 max (7-9 years) = 30% of the cap
Tier 3 max (10+ years) = 35% of the cap

What changed is that Tier 1 and Tier 2 players can now receive 35% if they:

1. Make an All NBA team the year prior to the extension or make an all NBA team in 2 of the previous 3 seasons. (Same rules apply to if a player receives DOPY).

2. Is currently with the team that drafted him.

If Embiid were to leave, he would not be able to receive the 35% until he reaches his 10th season in the NBA. So even if he doesn't reach All-NBA yet, there is still huge incentive to stay. The Sixers can also offer 1 extra year compared to everyone else.

Even if you factor out the money, the Sixers have done a great job of giving themselves opportunities to build around Embiid and Simmons by being patient. So many other teams (frank) things up by trying to win too quickly and making dumb decisions. Players rarely leave championship level teams.

I know that there's more to basketball than shooting, but if a guy is a "generational talent" like people say, shouldn't he be able to shoot? Shouldn't being able to shoot well be part of that, and be something that you have learned to do if you're that good?

It's not a direct comparison, but that's like saying Sidney Crosby would be a generational talent if he couldn't score goals.

Many seem to think it is something he can fix. Iverson was not a great shooter either when he came in to the league.

No but I would like to go fishing with those two.

Carrey in Dumb and Dumber is one of my favourite acting performances. Tyler is just a very random person from what I can tell. He has an acoustic version of "amazing" out there on youtube.

Such a good song.

Shooting is not his best skill, but he is still plenty good at it. Shooting can be refined as well. Look at Lebron. Simmons combination of size, skill, athletic ability and knowledge are just insane. He does things other players would never try, and he does it effortlessly..
