You don't know why? It's about matchups. Hakstol uses Gostisbehere with Giroux and Voracek in OT. You're not going to play a defensive posture for the entire 5 minutes of 3 on 3 OT.
- MJL

You are making logical choices their are just other players I want out there before Coots or Weiss .

More ice, and more room to make plays, makes it harder to defend, not easier. It's about trust, based on the Konecny's play during the season.
- MJL

The only thing that makes it harder is that if you lose your man it's an automatic odd man situation....there's no safety net...no back up....no system to bail you out....that's why I love 3-3. There always going to be plays to the net and good scoring chances.
Hopefully in the future Konecny gets more opportunities....skill wins when's there that much space.

I can see Couturier out there, but I'd rather not see Wiese. Even if I wanted to matchup defensively, I'd rather see Read out there with Couturier.

I think as the player improves in other areas, and gets more experience, we will eventually see Konceny as a staple in 3 on 3 OT.

Don't remember ever seeing Weise out there in OT before. Must be a very specific matchup Hakstol was after

I would be okay with Coots if he was matched with a TK , Schenn, Simmonds type since G and Jake are paired up..

I just dont want to see two players that are struggling this year to produce out there when a point is on the table.

Defense is better than offense.

Playing one balanced position is better than being able to play three positions.

Wiese is a veteran player, who plays well away from the puck. The issue is the guy has shown zero offense pretty much all season, so I think the criticism of putting him out in 3-3 in OT is valid. I also think in some situations, you should say screw matchups and playing defense, and go for the win. That's when Konecny should see some 3-3 OT ice time.

I think there is a lot to question within our game plan. Yesterday people want to bow to Hakstol for the line combination changes. We won the gamein pretty convincing fashion. Today, he makes line up changes after a victory. He's juggling lines in game. Today we looked like we were making up the game plan as the game went on. The think we let Columbus dictate everything. I have no problem with anyone who gets upset with Weise seeing OT because he's done nothing all season. These are all signs of a guy who doesn't seem prepared. Just pulling names out of a hat.

Good point but I'll get the arguments started. That should have been a 2 1 regulation win.

So he was criticized for not playing Lybimov yesterday, and now criticized for putting Lybimov in tonight. Same for playing Schultz yesterday, and not today. Some of the line juggling in game today, was due to Raffl missing time from serving a 5 imn major for fighting. Down 1-0 late in a game, a coach will often shorten the bench.

Weise was out in OT for 43 seconds.

I don't know...

He put G and Jake back together during the third when they needed a goal, it seems like good sound coaching there

I like splitting the two of them up, because otherwise G and Jake face tough matchups the entire game at 5v5

It worked great vs Tampa, but tonight Jake was off his game and the 11/14/93 line didn't have the magic they had yesterday

I wouldn't play Weise in OT, not before Read, Raffl, Schenn, Simmonds or TK;
but I get why TK doesn't get in 3v3. Next year or even later this season TK will be a fixture in OT.

oh and Amac had a pretty good game tonight, apart from one shift where his turnover(s) led to a prolonged CLB cycle

And 0 seconds of Konecny! Here's a brilliant idea! Play a 24 year kid in Lyubimov every night!!

Tampa Bay isn't as good as Tampa Bay. At least not right now. I mean, everyone can celebrate yesterday's victory like we won the World Series but me, I wouldn't have split G and Jake at all. We've had a lot of change in the last week, win or lose, whether we look great or not.

Question for all!

Does anyone have any idea who will be in the line up on Tuesday evening against Buffalo and what the lines will look like because I have no idea what the game plan is supposed to be.

I think they are playing better lately.
Team wise.
The W vs Tampa was a big win, against a team that has dominated them recently and is right behind them in the standing, and it came during a mostly losing streak. It was a big game.

Maybe the line up changes help a bit, but not sure how much.

Dale Useless Weiss should be glued to the bench during OT

G, Jake, Ghost
Schenn, Simmonds, Provorov
Coots, TK, MDZ

I think he rolls with the same lines he started that game with. Hak knows they got jobbed that game and the game before was decent. Give the new combos a chance and move on from losing to the stripped jackets.

EDIT: Just watched his post game and yep he was pleased with the effort overall. So betting he sticks with them.
