I've seen people saying they should trade their first this year That's always worked out great. - ClarksonDavid
I would for the right player.
Would you trade the 1st round pick in some kind of package for:
-Klingberg
-Hamilton
-Trouba
-Lindholm
-Vatanen
you know, a 22-24 yr old established and semi-proven top pairing D man?
I would do it in a heart beat.
I'm not interested in drafting a kid at 15-20 that is going to take 3-5 years to develop in the minors or AHL. I think the timing is bad and Rielly needs a legit partner now.

I suppose but just seems like good teams keep adding to there prospect pool year after year.. - ClarksonDavid
First round picks are tough to give away.
I remember reading about how the L.A. kings would pick the best player at a given position regardless of if they thought they fit into the system, just so they can develop them and use them as trade bait for other pieces.
I'm more for that route.... assuming we actually draft well |

To be fair, it’s all about context … trading 1sts before having a good idea of where they’ll end up is what got us into heaps of trouble.
I’m really not opposed to trading it after the lottery is done and we know what it is. We’re an Andersen injury away from being bottom 5….so it’s a little early for me to move our 1st.

Yep, I agree with this. "Usually" it is the best way to go...except in Edmonton's case.
I just think....for this one time only....that if we could use the pick to get Rielly a partner that is ready to play with the team now and grow with our core, we should do it. |

ok...start Bibeau against the Devils...need all we can get from Andersen to beat the Habs I think.....but maybe not with all their injuries.
I'm so confused.
*am always confused* - Garnie
i would say the opposite. start the better goalie against the weaker team when your team is fresher and maximize your chance of getting the points against the team closer to you in the standings. the Leafs losing tonight because of lousy backup goaltending would be inexcusable, whereas tomorrow night will be an uphill climb regardless because of fatigue. |

Good teams also make moves for quality players when the opportunity presents itself. |

Leafs taking the 4 points in the next 2 games , aren't we a little over zealous there , I am a Hab fan who used to tease Leaf fans but no more ! you guys are definitely legit and fun to watch but come on don't go overboard PLEASE , Yes great management and great decisions are being made and the young core is terrific , give them a chance to mature together and at least give the Habs credit for the season they are having ... do you honestly think that the Habs will just lay down and play dead ? The Leafs are doing well and are on their way and a playoff series between the Habs and Leafs would be phenomenal, but please taper the over zealousness with a little reality if the Leafs get 2 that would be great if they get 3 points that will , be really great but winning 2 games in 2 days and the 2nd game is against the Habs and Carrey Price which is no easy thing to do for any team - toneez
there's the ever present situation that works against the Leafs... i) scheduling which favors the Habs ii) officiating.... call it now... Habs always get a powerplay in the last two minutes of a period if they're trailing...
so yah... Leafs will be hard pushed to get more than 2 points.
before you blow your mind .....
this is an obvious troll (but mostly true)
