Hmm...investing a ton of money into the top 6. Can't think of any teams like that.

The team has gotten huge contributions from Raffl and MDZ. They also had Gagner and let him walk because GAGNER CAN"T PLAY IN THE BOTTOM 6 BECAUSE NO DEFENSE!
- PhillySportsGuy

Sorry should have clarified, I meant new bodies compared to players who have been on roster in past or currently; with the exception of Gagner. Agree both Raffl and MDZ have been a big plus over last couple of years with their affordable contracts.

I don't know how many times this year I've turned to a friend and said... 19 years old huh? There are 30 year olds that don't make that play.

Yes, but when Phil the Thrill was signed and during the first part of the season, he was playing with CINDY CRYSBY and EVGENI CRYKIN.

Then we'll just move Jake to 2nd line with Couts and TK to balance the investment to two lines
- arichardson22

there are definitely lots of ways you can do it. of giroux and jake, which one do you think can have the most success without the other? or does it depend on who is with them on the newly formed lines in your opinion.

Just pointing it out...a lot of people fell in love with Luca Sbisa, too.

Granted, he was never projected to be what Provorov is projected to be, but still...

about putting a six million dollar guy on the third line to balance out scoring?

or having two sub million guys play on the first line with the superstar to have things be cost efficient?

not much actually, because in reality none of these things are my decision anyway

- stayinthefnnet

Pittsburgh has the depth to balance the lines. The Flyers do not.

So keeping Giroux and Voracek together is a must. If they had the depth you would see Giroux on the first line with Voracek on the 2nd. But they do not have the players to support that set up and still produce.

I think Canada takes it. The USA team is very good, but my money would have been on either Canada or Sweden over the USA.

Also, since it's just the kids and the Flyers USA prospect may not play, I'd like to see Hart shine.

Edit: John Carlson's OT goal in 2010 is one of my favorite hockey moments.

Cmon man...keep up.

I'm on the top pair of team let younger players on cheap contracts play important roles on the team

Going to be fun a game. Canada needs a lot to go right but I would consider them the favourite if they're on their game. That means the physical pressure game they played last night.

They need Hart to be confident like he was last night. Chabot, Clague, Julsen and Bean need to have rock solid games again. Fabro, Jost, Strome, Barzal all need to be much better.

Personally that's tough for me to answer with them both being playmakers, but the two linemates for each of them definetly would impact their play regardless. But it would be an absolute luxury to be able to roll two deadly lines with Jake and G separated, similar to the Blackhawks with Toewes and Kane over the years, and then when we are down 1 goal or need some extra jump we put them together for a couple of shifts. And we may be just shy of this by a 1LW OR 2C (not a knock against Couts at all.)

I'm setting the over/under for his attempted passes at 0 for tonight. All the dude does is try to skate end-to-end through the entire team. Great talent when he gets the puck in the zone, but he's a turnover machine when carrying it.

He definitely holds onto the puck too long and skates the perimeter the majority of the time. Jost has been equally frustrating after starting so strong. He telegraphs everything he's attempting to do. Strome in my eyes may have gone from one of the most under rated to over rated prospects in the last 2 years.

The 2 best lines which I hope Ice time reflects tonight:

Dube-Cirelli-Stephens(Should be captain)
Dubois-Roy-Gauthier(Monsters)

i go back and forth on the notion of separating the two of them. but my original point was simply that its going to be hard to find that pure scorer type to play with them.

There's also our 1C who is scoring 1 point per 60 minutes at 5 on 5 this season.
- Feanor

The game isnt just played at 5 vs 5. As much as you use 5 vs 5 as a reason why Coots is awesomesauce you cant then throw out the PP when looking at other players production.

When I look at the list of problems on this team...Right now...Coots and Schenn not consistently producing is more troubling to me then how Giroux is .

No doubt 100% the Flyers need more from G and Jake at ES but to me they need more from Coots and Schenn for them to succeed.

The problem with SuperSchennBros is his 5vs5 is suspect and quite frankly, he doesn't hit the net enough.

Might want to change his name is SuperSchenn and drop the Bros as well since the other Schenn no longer plays for the team. Just a thought. That would reflect better Corsi numbers and reduce the hyperbole.
