Stock up on picks to be able to move up in the draft if they really want to. Also maybe get a pick an extra year or two down the line if you really think we have enough in the next draft.
- dragonoffrost

That all sounds great but I'm not going to be disappointed by Hextall's asset management after he's put this team in a great position moving forward. He deserves the confidence that he's doing what is best for the team.

Once they are signed Pro (lets be greedy and say ALL of them are good enough to be signed). 2 can go to the Phantoms, 2 to the Royals in the E. and if they had more than 2 you can always "loan" a guy to another AHL team.

I'm not going to bash him if he does lose them for nothing but I'd prefer he got something if he knew he wasn't resigning them since we aren't winning a cup with this team as it's built right now.

Not overly disappointed. They would just bring in more draft picks(wouldn't expect high) or expendable prospects. The farm system is stacked and they have another 10 picks in June.
- Baxter27

I don't know.

I think they could make good swaps. I don't really need picks to come back. I would be happy if they were able to get a player like Maroon. I understand both guys might not bring super high value but I think they could give you pieces. I used Maroon as but I would like a guy with some size and can maybe play up and down the lineup.

I don't know how many times this year I've turned to a friend and said... 19 years old huh? There are 30 year olds that don't make that play.

- dragonoffrost

That play on the PK, where he read the pass from behind the net, intercepted, made a beautiful spin move to the center of the ice and cleared the puck was astounding to me.

It's not all about winning the cup or gaining draft picks. Hextall's interview yesterday called out intangibles that Streit brings. I'm not saying I value those as much as he may but he's also been one of the top executives in hockey the last few years.

If Streit's presences is benefiting the development of the younger players on the roster I'll gladly take him over a late 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I'm open to making a move if that's what makes sense for Hextall. All I'm saying is I won't be disappointed if he decides it's best to hang onto either player.

Anyone ever fly into Billy Bishop (YTZ) when traveling to Toronto? Seems like pretty cool place to fly into, but not sure how convenient travel from there is.

Sometimes I think the expectations of fans, on what is a good scoring total is out of whack. Look at the stats last year, or any season, and see how many forwards each team has that scored 50 or more points. Last season, Schenn scored 59 points, which put him tied for 45th in the NHL in scoring. He's on pace again to score 50 + points. Flyers really need to improve their depth and overall team play, more than they need to add an elite finisher. 50 points is a solid scoring total in today's NHL
- MJL

I said he is good not elite. Which is what you said. I believe maximizing Giroux and Voracek's output over the next 1-2 years is very important for the Flyers. Especially, while they wait for the rest of the forward lines to be stocked with talent via the draft.

If Schenn was the left wing for G and V and produced 5 on 5 while on the line that would be ideal. They would not need to make a trade. However, that has not happened yet and does not look like something the Flyers are going to try this year.

Perhaps Hexy was trying to advertise Streit with naming his intangibles

That will bring you right into the center of old Toronto so travel from there should not be a problem. Pearson on the other hand is on the west end of Toronto about 20 minutes outside of the city(by car)

Not saying travel from Pearson is difficult either. There is a Train(UP) that will take you right to union station for $10.

I am staying in the Trinity-Bellwoods area, which isn't far off the air rail from Pearson to downtown. BUT Porter offers free beer and tons of flights from Newark

My Girlfriend is a flight attendant for another air line but has nothing but great things to say about Porter. It will be about a 10 minute Uber to Trinity Bellwoods from Billy Bishop. Could also take a street car/subway but will involve a bit of a walk.
