could easily be right, could easily be crazy
- YuenglingJagr

I want to see if anyone can get this obscure music reference:

There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh ooh and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook
There's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
There's a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
And it's whispered that soon, If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow,
Don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.
Your head is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How ev'rything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

That Edmonton team was awful in 2013-2014 when he had those numbers. I think they only had 29 wins or something. We talk about team play in front of mason so shouldn't that also be a factor in the Dubnyk case?

Oilers management didn't think so when they dumped him on Nashville.

I'm not saying Mason's bad, and I'm not saying his entire body of work in the NHL will be dismissed in favor of solely his 16/17 save%. I'm just saying that he's not doing himself any favors right now, especially when the market for goalies is fairly dry right now due to the trades made in preparation of the ED.

- jmatchett383

Is there someone suggesting he is doing himself a favor by being below average?

It is benefiting the team as much as it is a detriment to him. If he wants to move on that is fine, but it is only saving money to the Flyers. That is why I have always stated the need to give him a fair deal. He isn't getting 800k, but he probably doesnt get a big money contract either

They got Hendricks back in that deal. He's been a half decent role player for them.

I agree. The thing is, I wouldn't do more than 2 years, I think he'll want 3. The $$ I don't think will be an issue, $4.75M max if he can even slightly turn things around. I doubt he takes a cut.

Actually, what I've suggested is that performance in a contract year is a crucial factor in how big a goalie's next contract ends up being.

You've decided to contest that entirely uncontroversial observation for some bizarre reason.

- Feanor

because you repeatedly say why sign a .90whateveritisatthatday goalie when they can just sign neuvirth and stolarz

Overreacting about a poor season is part of the reason Dubnyk is a Vezina candidate in Minnesota

So what do you think. Say it isn't a hefty raise but he wants 4 years and NMC/NTC in it.

Or would you offer more money to keep the term down and not have any binding clauses?

The cap hit will be higher if the term is lower. With how people treat goalies here, there is still plenty of season to play out, so we won't know what he will get. I do know there are tons of goalies that will be moving this offseason though

Someone obviously needs to re-injure Couturier. It is the recipe for 10 game win streaks
- YuenglingJagr

but but but i thought couturier was a major part in us winning when he plays

What tune would people be signing (obscure or otherwise) if Mason had Bobrovsky's stats right now? We would be asking for a nice big contract? Lock him up?

Looking to the future that is probably even a pooptier scenario for the Flyers.

I'd have to know the numbers and see how the rest of the season plays out as well as how Stolarz/Lyon/Neuvy play.

Unless they get one before the offseason I could see these teams looking at goalies:

Dallas
Calgary
LA(backup)
Colorado(maybe)
Islanders
Buffalo(Lehner seems to get hurt a lot)

That's some I think just off the top of my head.

We wouldn't care because we would be at the top of the division and on a 16 game winning streak.

I'm not sure if we actually attempted but his name was certainly in rumor talks leading up to and around the deadline.
