How Russia uses Rubstov's 4th line is absolutely maddening. 2 20 or so second shifts. The last one they won a faceoff brought it up ice and earned an offensive zone faceoff in about 20 seconds, only to be pulled off for Voroybovs line which promptly took a penalty when they came out

Well...it wasn't worse than Masons but still not good at all. Denmark cant afford that.

Another apple for Vorobyov!

He'll be in a main role next year as a 19-year-old, but it's still frustrating.

Hi everyone,

I'm in Montreal so here are a couple of Flyers related updates and interesting tidbits. I watched the Sweden - Czech game on Saturday:

David Kase is a small guy, but smart and very feisty. Not afraid to go into the corners or a scrum, goes right to the net. Scored a nice goal by being at the right place, right time for a tip-in rebound. Even more impressive was his assist. He a lane at the point that was closing quickly, but opted for a no-look pass to a wide open teammate who buried it. Kase was always noticeable. I'm not sure if he has enough skill to overcome his size, but if he makes it Flyers fans will love him.

David Bernhardt certainly has the size, though he's not real physical. Did take an interface penalty for rubbing a guy out against the boards, but more of a puck-mover. Switched between right and left D throughout the game, and generally made smart, safe places. Logged a lot of ice time. 5 years ago he might have been a top 3 D prospect for us, that's how far the system has come.

Interesting, I was watching the two of them during the handshake and they chatted for a couple of seconds. Who knows...maybe future Flyers.

Wow, those Blues uni's are amazing.

They may not be the most "historic/oldest/yadayada" but i find it hard to find anything more aesthetic than those beauts!

I'm liking what i've seen from Bernhardt... 7th round pick? Talk about what's looking like a steal. Kid has very nice size, and skates very well.

Also he's got 7 points, in 21 games for Djurgårdens. A Dman, at 19 years of age probably not getting that much ice time, putting up those numbers against men? In his first year in the SHL? Yeah i'll take it.

Last night I was at the hotel bar and hung out with a couple of Finnish writers - Vesa Rantanen (well-respected long-time writer) and Sami Hoffren. Great guys. Chatted with Vesa all night about hockey and more. Naturally we talked about Kapanen, Timonen and one of my favorite Flyers from the 80's - Ilkka Sinisalo. Ilkka is here so maybe I'll get to meet him.

He briefly introduced me to Christian Ruutu, who's scouting for LA but had a meeting. At the end of the night though he introduced me to Jarma Kekalainen, the Columbus GM. He hung out for 5-10 minutes and talked with us. Great guy, very gracious.

Rasmus Asplund's father stopped by because he heard us talking about the games.

PS: I told Vesa and Sami to check out Bill's book on Pelle. A great read of course

Agreed. I'm going to the game this afternoon so I should get a look at him again, and hopefully both goalie prospects!

You gotta wonder if a couple of the players wouldn't be better served playing in the CHL this year. But really loaded at G and D for sure.

Blues fans are pretty cool too. They've never won a Cup and haven't been in the finals since 1970, yet they are extremely loyal and supportive. We may whine about not winning a Cup since 75, but 8 trips to the finals in 50 years is nothing to sneeze at.
