Dallas has two overpriced aging goaltenders on a sharp decline, so hey, why not add another, right?

How old was tim Thomas when the bruins won the cup?

He was playing great at that age, miller is not.

Niemi and Lehtonen are worse than Miller.

If Vancouver takes on the salary for another year on either of those 2 scrubs it is worth a pretty decent prospect.

Watching the Dallas v Arizona game...any goalie that is being moved, these teams should be on the list. Yeah, Arizona has some youngster goalies in the wings, but Smith just looks lost (never has been right since the concussions imho). Lehtonen, who is the better option in Dallas, looks like a mediocre AHL goalie.

Ek,

I think you missed the quote by honest Jimbo when he said that he won't ask any players with a NTC to waive unless they ask to be moved. So unless Miller asked for a trade, this ain't happening.

Vancouver is going to bad again next year.

Why wouldn’t they take neimi in a miller trade if they could increase the return on miller? Miller is probably worth at best a 4th in a straight up trade.

hopefully..... gives us another chance to lose the lottery again.

Miller, Hansen + Eriksson for Seguin + Niemi is a deal I can see being made.

Seguin was traded for Eriksson before.

Use money/cap space to buy better picks/prospects in trades then you would otherwise get; because your season is going to be a waste anyways.

Toronto, Carolina and AZ have all done this recently.

we're all screaming to unload at the TDL. everyone in VAN wants a rebuild except the owners. thats why the building isn't full.

I'm not a JB basher. His drafting (limited picks) seems to be pretty good. time will tell on a few pick for sure (virtanen) but its early.

His trades have been better than ppl think. It's just the constant dishing out of picks.

I like JB, but if he comes up empty at the TDL again there will be another riot.

If I were a Canuck's fan I wouldn't be too unsatisfied by Benning's moves as a whole. I guess the chief complaint would be the underlying thread of mediocrity during his unremarkable tenure. There really hasn't been any moves thus far that could be characterized as franchise defining.

This I suspect has much to do with ownership, as it was in Calgary before the Flames dug in for an actual rebuild.

Until the cuffs come off, however, Nuck fans are going to have to bear witness to what will mostly resemble a corpse rotting in an unmarked grave.

You guys really don’t have anything to unload at the TDL. Poor planning by Benning.

I don’t think your owner will be willing to take back salary to juice up returns either.

You guys are set for another bust of TDL, much like last year.

Murray’s an aggressive GM. I think it’s gotten him into trouble already, but I doubt this makes him take a step back. O’reilly should be back relatively quickly, no?
- Tumbleweed

I think Murray has done a great Job. Sabres are a going to be a good team soon. With guys like ROR, Eichel, Risto, E.Kane, Okposo and Reinhart they will no doubt be a playoff team soon. Aside from Risto however I am not a fan of that Defence.

much of the franchise has been turned over since 2011. there are a number of good players on the team. no elite players. no #1 line succession plan. Boeser could be a #1 winger. but you don't build from the wing. We have no #1 C no #1 D.

The rebuild just won't really hit full stride until the Sedins 14 shmill is off the books. Maybe a Tanev trade to alter the future at C? But then you're robbing peter to pay paul.

What they need is some lottery luck. I mean in 2017 (Patrick) and 2018 (Dahlin).

There are a number of players that can be moved. Anybody can be traded. Doesn't have to be UFA's.

The only way this is plausible is if MAF(+) goes to Carolina for Ryan Murray + Wardo. Given the recent injuries on Pittsburgh's back end (as in all 4 of their top D this month) they are going to need some reinforcements pronto. My guess is Oduya + Niemi and a pick/prospect for MAF. But I admit I'm just guessing.

Whatever San Jose spent for James Reimer last year is what Vancouver can expect for Miller at the deadline.

I watched that game too, but it was the arizona feed and I can only take so much of Tyson Nash so I turned it off after the first. I thought before the season that Dallas would actually make a move to reacquire Mike Smith but there's too many other options now available. I agree that Smith isnt having a good year, but their problems are much deeper than him, kind of like how Vancouver's are much deeper than Miller.
