It's too bad those signings hurt your feelings. It didn't keep us from drafting in the top 5 or from getting Boeser 23rd... we didn't give up assets for them. It's just crying over nothing really...

edit: Vrbada did a lot to make this team better in his first year. Get it right....

After the game, will Russia be drug tested?
- Beatle_john

If you ever looked at how many American international athletes use performance enhancing drugs but are allowed because of their doctors notes,,,, it would make you puke. In the last Olympics, 24.5% of the competing American Olympians had doctor notes. They are #1 in the world for athletes with acceptions. Canada came in at #4 with 14.5%. Russia and China are not even in the top 10. The whole loop hole seems rather biased.

Conclusion, the nation with the most sick athletes wins the most gold medals.

I agree with moving him earlier. Kesler even requested a trade from Gillis in 2013.
- boonerbuck

Yep…he did. I even heard the request was as far back as to right after getting punted by LA in 2012. More than a few people were calling for Kesler to get moved at that time. I was in Van for that series but wasn't going to pay $800 per game to sit in the lower bowl and watch them get pounded…instead I went to the Baselines Pub in Surrey by the rec centre and watched them get hammered for free!

Well..minus booze and chicken wings of course...

Can't change the past... nothing frustrates me more than conversations about who should have picked who.... once it is done, thats the card you played.

Free agents are not as big a deal as people make it.

Another way to look at it is you can sign vets to hope later you maybe able to convert to a pick. Cry babies like Vrbada make that difficult, unfortunately. So you try again with what you sign for nothing but the bosses money.

Don't ever underestimate the power of cap space, Arizona drafted Jakob Chychrun because of it.

hang on there....the list of drugs that are banned include cough medications etc. Also some Estrogens, not because they enhance performance but because they are an indication of past PED use. There are a lot of medications on the list such as asthma puffers. Of course we've never seen some jacked kid because of his inhaler. Allergy meds also are on the list. Some of what is on the list is entirely ridiculous.

But people automatically think its steroids. Not so.

players are allowed to use their prescribed meds for their conditions it'd be unfair not to and sometimes dangerous. An asthma sufferer would need the med just to play normal. No enhancement there but would still fail the drug test.

Sure there are always a few cheats too. For this reason they should have to register their meds and condition with the league.

Those medications are on the list because they give an edge in one way or another. I don't disagree with any of what you said there. You just kind of jumped to some kind of conclusion based on nothing I said. Strange...

I'm not even sure you read the post even.

No the estrogens give no enhancement, they are an indication of PED use in recent past. Same with fertility drugs.

Some, like vasodilators could give a slight enhancement in athletes who are healthy and do not need it, but in those that do need it it would be a requirement to play normally.

Of course I read it. I was saying they wouldnt be a enhancer if they were required for a condition, but would only in healthy athletes.
I thought I'd just provide clarity on the PED issue for the general HB public, nothing aimed your way.

WJC gets like no coverage in the States. Oh well at least Canada looks good. Got to stream the highlights. Will be nice to be back in Vancouver at least Hockey is King even though that Canuck crown is made of tin

I got what you were saying. I added other info just for educational purposes to everyone here so theres no confusion on the drug testing topic.

That's strange. Your first words were...

hang on there....

That kind of sounds like you are putting the brakes on what you thought I was saying... like the rest of your post.

I'm just saying, the team with the overwhelming amount of sick athletes with prescriptions of banned medications won the most golds, again.

Edit: our posts are kind of out of order... sorry to keep repeating.

I can imagine there is little concern in Canuck's losing a player in the Vegas draft. But it's a not a deep team so it will hurt more. Maybe the Canuck's could find a waiver exempt player to offer up for an extra picked player.

Though, I know there might be a freak out if JB offer's CBJ's 2nd up instead. Can't you see it now? JB seeing a reclamation project for young middle six or 5D picked from other team by Vegas. They have overage for roster and he gives them a draft pick as an out.

Tell me about it lol non-stop. Women's softball gets more coverage then WJC. Though NHL hockey has decent coverage they are just not nationalistic enough about WJC. Why Olypmics is a big need for NHL participation on ratings and coverage. Go big or stay home.

if it isnt about basketball, football, baseball or flag waving you wont hear squat on it.

my friend was in anaheim when they won the cup. He looked for coverage the next day in the news paper. Despite winning a major sports title it was 2-3 lines on the back page....but the front page was 2 stories about high school football

To be fair, When did Anaheim win the cup? Seems like you're talking about a decade ago. While I agree in general hockey is on the bottom, since then LA has won two cups and the game is much more popular in cali because of it
