@Marc D re Morin

I'm 100% with you. He not only needs(ed) to develop his game but also grow into his body. At 6'7", I would like to see him him at a solid 240 playing weight. 227 is still a lot of mass with the ability to generate a lot of force on the ice but 240 with "man-strength " will be a fearsome player...

Que the Richardbag complaining that he's the only high draft pick of his draft not to dress in an NHL game yet

Knuble version two?

Is that accurate?

- flyer_nutter

I think he has better playmaking skills than Knuble and he's not as big as Mike, but it's not a bad comparison. A bigger, more skilled Raffl would be closer though, IMO.

He seems to be putting on 5-8 pounds or so per year since they drafted him, so he'll probably be 232-235 by next season. I expect him to start the season with the Flyers next year. Schultz and Streit will definitely be gone and I think it's pretty doubtful that MDZ gets re-signed so that only leaves them with 5 guys likely back: Provorov, Ghost, Gudas, AMac and Manning. Even if they go free agency for a 6/7 depth guy, there will be at least one spot available for the taking, and Morin will be the leading candidate to take that spot.

Morin's weight is fine. If you even just look at him, he's a very chiseled, lean 6'7". Pronger was 220lbs...Tyler Myers is 230...Hedman is 230. Big Sam is 230 now. Morin is at his optimal weight already, I reckon. Any more and it would probably be counterproductive. He already with ease destroys people along the boards physically. He needs to remain mobile too. I have Friedman above Hagg. Hagg has been a lot better this year and more physically engaged, but I still have never liked him particularly much. The inconsistencies and lack of assertiveness can be maddening. I think Friedman could be a player when he gets to the AHL next year just really surprises people and his stock rises. If he was in a better program, he'd probably have more recognition for what he's been doing in college. Right handed, great skater, very skilled, smaller but stocky. He just flies under the radar.

Also, only Rubtsov and Vorobyov are centers. Laberge is a winger....Kase can indeed play all 3 positions, but he's probably a winger at the pro level.

Lindblom will be on the Flyers out of camp next year. That's my bet. In his age 20 season he is simply dominating in the SHL, the 3rd best league in the world. Last year in a small sample he already showed he was a high caliber AHL player, and I can't even imagine what he'd look like there now....if he was allowed to play off the 4th line.

His skating is fine now. He's got good enough feet in tight, but he'll never be a burner. Just shows the merits of drafting all-around good players who drop only because of concerns in skating -- and Hexy has actually made a habit of this so far (Fazleev, Lindblom, Vorobyov, Laczynski). It's important but easily the most improvable thing about a teenage player. Look at Laczynski: has the total package but needs a lot of skating work. Maybe a similar type of project.

I agree, he doesn't need to put on more weight. He has more than enough size. We want him to maintain maximum mobility and agility to contend with speedy NHL forwards.

Yeah, I know I was reaching a bit on the center picks, but it's pretty slim pickings after the 2 Russians. Would love to see another added to the mix with their 2017 1st

Laczynski took a penalty. Which is good because now i know what his number is and can follow him from now on. They hadn't mentioned him at all up until that point

Maybe, maybe not. Hes still not fully physically developed. His listed 227 is fine for now, as i stated above but, for me, ideally, a 240-245 lean behemoth is what im hoping for
