or keep Hansen and continue being a mediocre team with little assets? Chicago doesn't seem to have problems selling off assets for decent returns and still remain competitive?
- Codes1087

It doesn't matter until after next year. Like I said last night , do you think Ehlers would help here?

This is not a mediocre team ,it is a rotting team. Red Wings Dallas Nashville are mediocre . We are bad.

I am not too sure to be honest. I think it really depends on how bad the AVS want to blow it up. If Ray is right, and everyone is available minus Mackinnon and Barrie, than we gotta see what the price is for Landeskog and Duchene.

Obviously Duchene will come at a heavy price tag, but last night the one thing I noticed more than anything is how BAD the Canucks get pushed around. Who hits apart from Tryamkin, Dorsett, Skille, and Sbisa? I think we are all hoping Virtanen can turn into a true power forward that supplies a bit of hitting. Landeskog can do both of that now. But you are right, I am not sure we have anything that isn't our future that the Avs would want.

One guy that would be sweet to grab and could be relatively cheap is Nikita Zadorov.

21 year old, 6'5, 230 pound mobile Dman who has demonstrated offensive potential in the past. Him and Tree would make a formidable pairing

Benning would have to do some further expansion maneuvering though.

Thanks Carol. As always insightful. Appreciate the holiday reads.

Interesting you brought up WD adjustment issue. I would have assumed he would have seen Jets being more physical next game with line up changes too. Thought it would have been opportunity, with back to back also facing Flames next day, to put in more physical Guance and Pedan over Megna for tough but smaller Biega. But I was with you on Hansen injury letting the air out of Canuck will. Being down a player then helped the Jets come on. Their young guns expose Miller. Another questionable move as stronger Marky seemed to have Jets number.

But it seems any talk on coaching adjustments is seen as futile cause these players are deemed not good enough. It makes no difference, like changing deck chairs on the Titanic. If Canucks win it was luck. When they lose reality. Maybe that comes with not being elite and a transition team. Still though there are signs this team can compete. Management has wishful thinking for playoffs. That angers some and frustrates others. Coaching aside, problems with injuries and depth. Well you know the outcome so far.

Will just enjoy the games no matter the results. With no expectations at TDL and see where things fall in off-season.

Perhaps, i mean if they are open to the likes of:

Edler, E.G, Tanev or Sbisa, something could work, but for one of their top guns i'd have to assume the convo starts and ends with Horvat, who personally, i wouldn't move for anyone other then MacKinnon.

And they won't do that lol.

You wouldn't do horvat for Dutch ?

I don't think horvat ++ gets you Dutch and I'm fairly high on Bo

We kicked their ass in the last game and the Jet's were not physical. If WD changed up to a more physical line up for the next game, the same people would flip flop and complain...

I was listening to the post game on the radio last night. The lack of physical play out of the Jet's in the first game was more of an accurate example of how the Jets have played this season according to the Jet's play by play guys who were asked...

WD made the right decision with the roster...minus starting Miller. The Canucks were in the lead for most of the game...

Despite his problems never wanted him to go. I know character. Ugh. Lack of size and speed on this team. Thought he was worth keeping and helping him over come. But reality being what it is they tried at the time and were cutting losses.

Read a tweet granted from a unreliable source that Edler might want a change of scenory. Probably untrue but was enough to get me excited with what ifs

I know the Jets have not played physical in the regular season. However, this unique playing twice at home situation was like a mini playoff. Adjustments are more expected. It seemed logical that they would try that at some point given everything else wasn't working against Canucks. Anyway, Hansen loss was biggest turning point in my opinion.

Personally, no.

Horvat is 4 years younger and brings more skills to the table. I think he will become a consistent 20 goal, two way guy. He should also hopefully still be in his prime by the time this team can challenge.

Dutch is very crafty but is basically a 20 goal, 40-50 assist player who outside the offensive zone is pretty ineffective. He would also likely be hitting 30 by the time this team can consistently compete

It seems the Isles and Avs may be better trading partners if it's a change of scenery on equal pieces. If Canucks get a sniff on a vet of theirs it may be after they move those sought after players. Maybe Yost and a draft pick for Tanev as has been suggested would work? Not sure. I still think nothing is happening until the offseason.

Horvat + definitely gets you Dutch. That why I wouldn't do it either. In a few years Bo will be just as good.

They would want something like Horvat, Subban, and a 2nd for him which we would win now but lose later on. Horvat should be untouchable, IMO

Why do you continue to poke this issue, you start to post semi legible posts, and then come out with something like this. There are several issues with this team "Rosie", players that suck, players under preforming, players that belong in the AHL, questionable coaching decisions, questionable GM decisions, questionable owner decisions. But your single minded feeble excuse is the coach, hey just change this and holy smoley we win, the canucks can compete with anyone.

But hey, 4U says it's all the coach and if anyone disagrees then they must anti change, they must be pro WD and 4U says we can't be objective because we refuse to agree that the issues are all WD. It can never be the issues as I stated above because it doesn't condemn WD but looks at several reason for the teams poor standing, including but not limited to WD...

So, you think the coach should have guessed what kind of changes the other coach is going to make, second guess what was just highly successful aginst this team and throw in some size because the Jets are expected to do something they havent really been doing this season... got it.

It's a guarantee that if WD did this, there would have been a riot on here before, during and after the game. Even if we won(like the Horvat on the 4rth line drama in game 1 still producing tears).
