I don't mind him trading a draft pick to get a player that Van needs. I would prefer if he would recoup that pick though. I don't see this year as being a great draft so I would really only like expiring contracts or players that won't have a spot next season to be traded at the deadline.

They will get a high pick this year.

Sign a few free agents in the summer. I like Dwight King and Tommy Wingels for bottom six.

Yeah they are decent role players and come from a winning environment. I'd recommend what the Leafs did in signing bottom 6 free agents to a good contract (1 year) and flipping them at the deadline.

I never did, nor never will understand the rationale behind the Gudbranson trade. I think he's one of the worst dmen in the league and now they are committed to whatever contract he wants next. As long as JB can stop silly decisions like that, I'd imagine Vancouver will be just fine.

The Rationale would be the Van D is weak, and is without him even with Tree in the line up.

Hutton and Guds pairing was terrible. WD needs to find a different partner for Guds next season. I'm not saying he's been good but I don't think he has been as bad as people are claiming.

Dark for you is correct.
Might be time to relax a little.

Teams not that good. Oh well. Get a high draft pick. Add pieces.

Things Canucks should do in the new year.

This team needs change and it needs it now. When Edler is healthy ask him to waive his NTC. If he refuses I would tell him he is not going to be on the protected list this summer. Yes you lose him for nothing but you also won't be complaining about him for the next two and a half years. This is your get out of jail free card,

I do trade Miller and Burrows at TDL . I keep Hansen as the leader of this group for the next few years.

I go up to the twins right after the Xmas break and let them know their minutes will be reduced and they will be the teams third liners going forward. Then you don't have to ask them to waive they may ask you for a trade instead.Same goes for Eriksson who was playing 4 th line or 3 rd the last two games.

I put the 3 Swedes on the same line and give them ten minutes a night.

Yes we will lose but we are already losing. This will help younger guys like Bo Granlund Sven and eventually JV and Boeser.

That is how you do change when you are handcuffed in a corner.

Go ahead and rip in.

I wouldn't say he is going to be a great player but until change is here it is hard to say. If you surround the kid with crap he will probably turn to crap also.

Leave him down on the Comets for two years. Bring him up when he turns into a man. I think you see a Zack Kassian 2.0 less the coke

All the talent is there. What he does with it is what I worry about.

It's not the team around him, it's his conditioning and perceived sense of entitlement.

I would give you about 95 % being correct with that but I always think back to the lines 9 point game and next game he gets pulled so they could give his spot to Vrbata.

Most of his time he has been paired with 4 th liners and reduced minutes.

I heard via a Canucks coach that JV feels very entitled and has never had to work for anything in his life. He says he needs to stay in Utica and learn to be a pro.

Nothing really new, but reinforces that he's a long ways from where we expected him to be. Also proves that keeping him up last year was a massive massive mistake. Looks like it had the same effect on McCann as well.

You could be right. I've never been a fan of him back to his Florida days. You could be looking at near 5 mil per year for a 5/6 dman.

He is young enough to find his true potential and keep him in Utica until he does. If it takes 2 or 3 years so be it.
