I posted something earlier tonight about how the core is infected with habits that stifle offense. Its the cores habits not an incorrectible player issue. This is something that a coach can correct. We will new life in these guys.

Just like how Ive said the last few years we correct the D system and edler will be great again, and he has had a good season with the new system. It was a system issue not the players and that proves it.

Maybe theres a few improvements to be made but if we change the way the offense is hampered our forwards will produce again and talent will be more apparent.

I actually heard something on a podcast or something about a year ago where the guys were talking about a new point system that was pretty crazy

3 points for regulation win
2 for OT
0 for loss

Then
1 point for 5 or more goals
-1 for being shutout

its a topic of a few years now since before you came. To summarize, I was ripping apart the D system or more specifically lack of 1. I detailed it back then. Our zone exit strategy was awful and posters were blaming the players....and edler was to be traded for a few breaths of air here lol. I detailed how if someone came and instituted a proper D system and implemented strategy to clear the zone that edler would have a great season and the players on the D would look much better with a better outcome.
This off season that happened, edler is having a good season and his value is showing. The D is much better this year and zone exits are quick.

Everyone blamed the players back then....trade this guy that guy blah blah. It shows how much difference systems make in players, esp when it comes to D where they need to know where to be positioned.

so it proves the impact it can make and thus how coaches impact player performance

Edler was a 35-40 point D man who has what 3 this year ? He seems to have trouble getting the puck out of his end as well ...if you don't believe me ask vantel

Although many don't wish to rebuild and think you can be competitive without top 3 picks, I think this is the best thing that can happen for the organization and the fans.

I don't mind him trading a draft pick to get a player that Van needs. I would prefer if he would recoup that pick though. I don't see this year as being a great draft so I would really only like expiring contracts or players that won't have a spot next season to be traded at the deadline.

They will get a high pick this year.

Sign a few free agents in the summer. I like Dwight King and Tommy Wingels for bottom six.
