Dryden had 5 Vezinas 73,76,77,78 & 79, Lafleur had 3 Art Ross`76,77 & 78, Robinson Norris 77, he may have had more but some guy named Orr won 8 in a row.

Edit: Vantel could have won Stanley Cups coaching that team.

I dont think he had that where ever he went. He coached quite a few teams Yet still won

He coached STL-MTL-BUF-PIT-DET. I'm sure there were a few seasons where he got non-PO teams in but pretty much he had solid playoff lineups all through. We just don't have that here.

Torts was trying to coach a team that he didn't have. You have to get the players to buy into the system. The coach also needs to have a system that somewhat supports the type of players you have.

absolutely. Like when AV started the dump and chase routine yet didnt have the right guys to retrieve it. Might as well have just passed it off to them

So the coach prepares the team for the game, and then when the don't preform it's falls on him.

It's not like he says, " hey guys gain entry into the zone and shot the puck into their shin pads, not once but let's do it every chance we get, oh don't forget to leave your defensive responsibilities and have 2 guys chase behind the net and expose the open forward". "Also hook, grab, clutch, trip, hold...do whatever it takes to stop the opposition". And I want no retaliation, you guys take the slashing, cheap shots, and turn the other check, I want a team of pussies out there"

Because that is what is happening, and it must be because the coach is telling them to play that way.

I just find it confusing how we can beat WPG 4-1 who technically have a way tougher lineup than CAL…then look like a Junior B team vs the Flames.

Gonna be a tough 2nd half gotta be something in the way of change coming.
