The Jack Adams is such a weird award. Torts is the front runner because he has taken a bottom feeder into the playoffs, not that he has done anything different or special this year
- WhiteLie

From what I've read he has adjusted some facets of his game. He wants to play with much more speed, Eliminating the middle man In the neutral zone.

Im sure he's still poop hard on blocking shots though.

Outrage on how he was coached on the bench while backing up... no urgency, no system, no cushion provided which hurt his feeling more than his cold butt.

You're a good poster.

judging by the names on that list, it would take something crazy for him to make the final cut for D men. They have some really good players on D. Would be fantastic to see him make it though!

so was lindholm. two top5 picks, not to mention selling high for draft picks. This is rebuilding, you're trying to frame it otherwise.
- neem55

Ward the #1 goalie still and they won the Cup how long ago? So their rebuild started when?

To me, he's taken a team with no elite center's and found away to compete and make his young guys play hard every night. Taking a bottom feeder into the top-5 is pretty impressive. I think Boucher should be in the conversation too, as Ottawa has quietly played quite a bit better defensively this year

three top 10 picks in the past three years, two of them top 5. This is the epitome of a team rebuilding. Do your homework.

I might be wrong but isnt the roster fairly similar to the team he took over last year? and aside from the Jones/Johansen trade, isnt it largely the same one that went to the playoffs the year before that?

I always thought he was a decent coach, I am just saying in general, your team can have an awful year then make the playoffs and your coach becomes a Jack Adams contender. To me, coach Q does a great job integrating the new guys in with the turnover they have and remains consistently one of the better teams, but isnt a finalist

He doesn't need an award for people to know he is the best coach out there.

Coach Q is unreal. I guess in that sense it is a weird award, as he should probably have a few by now. Columbus did squeek into the playoffs two years ago, so you've got a point there.

But will they risk giving us next seasons and having a poor finish and giving us a better pick? it has to be 17 or 18 for the pick. No other options. If they finish well this years is the better bet.
- Retinalz

Giving us this years pick is betting against their future to some extent. We can all agree a high 2nd round pick this year is better than next year as your prospect is ready a year earlier. Perhaps if they finish top 3 (which they won't) they would consider it. I just think it's very unlikely. Hope I am wrong

No, but thats whats weird about the "coach of the year" award to me, is that the better one only have one or even none

Since 1999, every winner of the award is a first time winner except for Jacques Lemaire in 02-03. So weird that being good/consistent isnt rewarded as much as teams that make then miss playoffs. Oh well

With your record we might be in luck

I tend to agree with you though, unless they go deep into the playoffs I think they will put it off another year.
