No. It won't change a thing.

Green will never take a position that is transitory. He has enough clout to get better.

What is this upside that he has shown?
- nucks_94

He's been one of the bigger disappointments this season. All the 'intangibles' he's supposed to bring must take place in the locker room, because on the ice he hasn't been overly physical, kept the front of the net clear, or stuck up for teammates in any significant way.

All I know is Wilson and the Dark Lord Burke need to be fired and Kessel and Phaneuf need to be......

OK.. again... while not having a stellar season.... who do you want in a fight?
Which one has leadership abilities?
Which one's name rhymes with Brudgumberson?
His speed and skating is good for a large man.
His positioning in front of the net is textbook good.

- Beatle_john

Okay...

Are you willing to pay between $4.5M and $5.5M (rumoured extension values) per year, longterm for a guy that:

-Can fight (fighting is becoming less and less a part of the game)
-Has leadership abilities (can we get that elsewhere in the lineup?)
-poopty name
-Skating is "good" for a big man (debatable, and still not even an average NHL skater)
-Has good positioning (again, debatable, and his stats show that he really struggles with puck retrieval and shot suppression)

Fine... you win. You're a little totally blind but you win.

Keep Sbisa. Enjoy.

If you think Sbisa is as good then you need a white stick and little tin cup.

He's a good coach but people really need to start questioning his integrity. He’s not even hiding the fact that he’s throwing games. There are suggestions that Babcock is profiting greatly from leaf losses. Not only from hidden bonuses within his contract with MLSE but through questionable connections with Vegas.

It all just stinks.

As an assistant coach. Zero NHL head coaching experience since he joined the North Stars bench in 1991, never made interim head coach, passed over for every opening, makes you question why suddenly hes the best candidate for Vancouver?

I wouldn't use the term "good" for either player. But please, feel free to show me something that proves Sbisa is a worse player

Because he's responsible for all the good things we do whereas WD is to blame for the bad?

Isn't that the narrative?

Sbisa and Gudbranson are basically the same player:

-Similar point totals
-Sbisa has slightly better possession numbers (still not good though)
-Gudbranson hits more
-Gudbranson has more giveaways (slightly)
-Sbisa is a better skater

Basically, management saw Sbisa last year and said "we need to double down on this sh!t"

Neither guy is suited for more than a 5/6 role, and yet Gudbranson is likely going to get paid like a 3/4 guy in the near future because of his "intangibles"

The funny thing is, Tryamkin is better than these two guys in almost every way (possession stats, hits per game, way fewer giveaways, salary)

- nucks_94

Yes, you could make an argument that they are similar. I like both players but we probably only need one. EG is better due to his leadership, age and fighting ability

Yah, and those 'intangibles' sure have worked wonders. You would think a guy that has been lauded as such a great leader and team presence would have led by example last night during the 3rd period collapse.

Instead he's seen time and again wiping pucks up the boards to the opposition in almost a tantrum like fashion.

(frank)ing comical.
