i wonder if you guys really think this and just cant see an ounce of rationality outside of home team love
" did he just say somethin negative about my favourite team?!! oh god, what a baby. we're totally infallibe and nothing negative he said could possibly be true!! we're the good guys!!!"
the retards always have to look at it like good vs bad guys.
i like my home team guy, so whatever the other guy says is lies!! - HB77
Do you think Schenn is dinged up? He either seems a bit dis-interested, a step slow, or possibly injured this past week... looking forward to seeing him contribute a bit more. Thinking he also might just be a bit tired... man they have played allot of hockey in a compressed period.
I love the McDavid quote about how Manning wouldn't fight any of his guys. "HIS" guys. McDavid didn't want to go but wanted someone else to do it.
Can't wait to get Couturier back. Seems that 2nd line just needs him. Schenn just doesn't give me enough. And once Couturier is back where does Schenn even go? Only place right now is the wing with Cousins and Weise.
Love what is coming out of Lyubimov. He is relentless and I think he can easily fill Vandeveldes role and then some moving forward.
Manning will get female dog slapped in the next game. Kassian might rearrange his face like he did to Gagner a few years ago. - hunter3333
Jeez. If mcdavid wants to talk tough maybe he should fight manning instead of being a female dog about it. If kassian has to step in maybe Simmonds might want to dance with one of the oilers pixies.
They got eaten alive Tuesday. Tonight they were much more effective. If they can sort of bridge the gap and give us the middle of that road between tonight and Tuesday's performances, they might be OK - Jsaquella
To be fair, the entire team got eaten alive on Tuesday.
That's my main point. If you have that big of an issue. You fight him. Lost a lot of respect for him last night. - Hextall271
I hear that, but from a hockey standpoint, you don't want your superstar 19 year old player fighting. Same way we don't want Giroux fighting. Tougher players defending star players on the ice has been going on forever. No different than if Wayne Simmonds was defending Giroux.
Why would a 19 year old super star fight?
If he breaks his hand then his and the Oilers season is done.
Bobby Clarke always fought his own battles - Stalemate
Understand that, but if you're going to go national tv and start calling a guy out by saying he wouldn't even fight one of our guys, then he absolutely looks like an idiot. I don't expect him to drop the gloves because he could break a hand, but for gods sake don't go to the press and whine like that. If you're really that mad. Drop em. I've seen lecavalier and iginla drop em when they felt they needed to.

I doubt anyone thinks this. I think they find it funny about how badly Manning managed to get into McDavid's head & cause him to rant like this after a game.

Your first point is bang on. Basically he's saying. I'm a star and I'm pissed that manning wouldn't fight one of my hired goon posse. I guess he feels he's the new Gretzky and people should fight his version of semenko. Don't remember gretz ever going to the national press and acting like this however.

Manning's goal wasn't to fight McDavid. It was to get in McDavid's head and throw him off his game. He got in his head and the Flyers won the game. Guess his mission was successful.

Lecavalier or Iginla were never considered super stars in the same way McDavid is.
I agree, what he said was dumb and he sounded dumb, TBH I find he sounds dumb on a good day. He's a super star on the ice not in front of the cameras.
How these things normally go, Manning should have fought some meat head from the Oilers and then it would have been over.

Who said that was Manning's goal?
People are questioning McDavid's character for not challenging Manning himself.
I guess he was successful getting McDavid off his game, held him to 1g & 1a

Oh, I think Manning would've been more than happy to drop them with McDavid, and I bet he extended the invitation. - MJL
McDavid extended the invite in period one and Manning said nope. The Flyers needed to stay on the ice last night and knew it. Manning is our #3 D man right now and he knows he needs to stay out there against deep teams. It's all about time place and score. 2 goals as we have showed time and time again isn't death for this team. 3 goal lead and you can start thinking about settling other scores.
Yes it would take McDavid off for 5 minutes but you still got the rest of Edmonton's kids to deal with.

I think people are calling McDavid a crybaby for moaning about Manning after a game where the Oilers pissed away two points. If McDavid is that focused on Manning after that kind of collapse, then it's an issue for the team. Why should Manning fight Kassian or Lucic for a play over a year ago, that McDavid's own coach said was not dirty and a "hockey play"?
Obviously, Manning was trying to get under McDavid's skin. Which he obviously accomplished, if you look at the post game interview. Maybe McDavid was trying to shift the focus off the Oilers collapse and shift it to Manning. If that's the case, great.
Otherwise, McDavid comes off as a crybaby because Manning talked poop to him and crawled into his head to the point that he was the primary focus of McDavid after a game in which the Oilers pissed away two 2 goal leads and lost a game they led 5-3 wih just ten minutes left in regulation.
Had we lost this game McDavid doesn't cry at the end of the game. What bothers me most about this whole McDavid-Manning beef is it was clearly accidental. And wasn't MDZ also injured in the same collision? Besides that, McDavid was yapping just as much and as soon as he scored his goal he looked right at Manning and we all know what his lips read. Funny he says all that while Lucic is lurking right next to him waiting for Manning's move. I also love the comments from Oilers fans on ESPN's coverage of this "beef." Apparently we are the most classless fans because Manning got into poor Connor's head.

100 % The best player on the ice was more worried about Manning then the hockey game. If the Oiler fighters wanted to settle the score they certainly had the opportunity through out the night as did Mcjesus.
About the only idiot to think the play a year ago was intentional was Don Cherry...and he's so far up Mcjesus's a $$ that it borders on pedophilia.
