Apparently Manning said there was no challenge from McDavid and McDavid clearly said Manning wouldn't fight one of the guys so I just don't believe McDavid wanted to fight himself. Personally if I were an Edmonton fan I wouldn't want him to either. I even cringe when Simmonds fights at times cause I don't want to see him break a hand on a helmet. - nastyflyergirl
Yeah, I also worry about his hands.
But how awesome is it than Simmer is having his best season after deciding to put on the visor? |

No, even if his contract was 4/18 the criticism wouldn't have been nearly as strong. I think it's the six year term that really drives people crazy.
But he'd also have gotten less criticism if he had played better in 14-15, 15-16 and the start of this season. - Feanor
I think you can go back even further |

The Flyers have an impressively long history of elite poop talkers. It's amazing how they can continuously rattle the best players on opposing teams. |

Story will be Manning and McDavid, but let's face it, Manning was trying to get in McDavid's head...and he's got a penthouse suite. He did what he wanted to do. McDavid's 19. He'll learn from this. A guy who has aspirations on being the best player in the world can't let a 5th defenseman get into his head and get him off his game.
. - Jsaquella
If that is McDavid off his game, this league is in big trouble. He was a dominant player in the game. All McDavid showed was his competitive fire. |

I think McDavid was frustrated and got caught up the heat of the game. I am sure Manning was sending some good chirps. Maybe Manning started off with a hows the shoulder and McDavid went on the defensive and then the chirping took off. As the chirps continued maybe Manning said shut your mouth or I will break your shoulder again. Big deal - its called chirping. No different then McDavid calling him a female dog. McDavid seemed to be the one that wanted to keep it going all game but to me chirping is all part of the game.
Manning fought Maroon - time to move on. He should not be having to fight every Edmonton Oiler not named McDavid for the rest of his career. He collided with McDavid in a hockey battle which resulted in an injury. Manning is a player who has to play everyone hard or he will be in the AHL. Look at the advanced stats for the game 5 players have ugly numbers. Yep those were McDavid's friends that game. |

Flyers should reacquire Maroon. To do so, we can lure him back by reacquiring the other half of his 1-2 punch, Jonathan Matsumoto

That's my main point. If you have that big of an issue. You fight him. Lost a lot of respect for him last night. - Hextall271
He should have blew off the question. I have no doubt it was an accident but clearly it was on McDavid's mind and clearly Manning got in his head. We won the game and Manning won the war. |

With guaranteed contracts, there will always be players that perform above and below their annual salary. It is just the way it works. Maybe it would prevent some of these guys from signing such big contracts if they actually had to carry around the money in cash though - YuenglingJagr
right, which is why I don't care about how much money a guy makes when evaluating the player |

How the hell is McDavid gonna cope when he gets injured by an actually dirty hit if this is his response to an unfortunate accident? |

He should have dismissed the question. As the best player in hockey, if he thinks last night was bad, he hasn't seen anything yet.

From what I understand, McDavid's actions the game last night were not in reaction to the hit last year, but in reaction to Manning chirping him about the hit. It reaching the point of being overblown. All it was is a building rivalry between two players. Something that happens all the time in the NHL. Its crazy all this talk of McDavid being thrown off his game.
