i dont completely agree with that. I do think Leier deserves the call up and given their roles, I would rather have Leier than Laughton, but I think Laughton needs ice time in the NHL to really improve. He has always done well at the AHL level, even this year. I think the AHL will be good for him, but getting ice time at the NHL level will be required for any big step in development - YuenglingJagr
I agree for the most part, but right now, I think the best thing for Laughton is to be placed in a situation where he can put his struggles behind him, and get back to being a good player, and get his confidence back. Best place to do that, along with the playing time needed, is in the AHL. |

Can't argue with that. Laughton actually has over 100 NHL games at this point, but with his injuries, it seems like he takes a while to get back on track (he's still only 22). That's why I thought the AHL would be a better option.
Maybe this is more an issue of timing as well.
Or even, this could be construed as a reward for Leier, rather than a punishment (of sorts) for Laughton. I still think Laughton is gonna be an NHL player. - johndewar
I definitely agree that it is a bit of a reward for Leier. Laughton has played a good amount of games in the NHL, but has gotten very little ice time. I think it is good that he keeps playing, but I am just referencing this recent success at the AHL level to show that I don't think he is just trying to recover from an injury. |

No loss in Read. After that early hot streak he returned to being a warm body.
Glad to see the youthful energy that someone like Leier can bring. - flyer_nutter
Not true. Read was playing solid Hockey. Hopefully, Leier can match that. |

I get the winning line up thing but sitting Gudas is just plain stupid(if he's healthy). He's been missed the last 2 games regardless of the results. - Baxter27
confirmed?
edit: I see he was paired with Schultz on twitter |

I just hate the idea that now Laughton is regarded as some has-been.
He's 22. He's gonna be a regular NHLer. |

I would put him back at center down there and let him play for a good 20 games at least. He's much more valuable to the Flyers organization as the Center he was drafted to be rather than the winger he was converted to so he could stay in the line up. |

I don't know. His time in the NHL showed me that he is better suited on the Wing that at Center. Most important thing right now, is what is best for the player, than what is best for the big club. If they view him as a winger in the NHL, then he should play wing for the Phantoms. |

When I've watched games from Nashville, the crowd comes over the tv broadcast so I'd say they aren't a flash in the pan market after all these years. Plus having the star power of the country music industry being fans doesn't hurt. Mr Underwood is a lucky man. - dragonoffrost

I think that the flyers should try to get into the Panthers heads tonight. They could send sign guy (from the lower bowl behind the net at the WFC) to the airport to meet them upon arrival. He could hold a sign just outside the baggage area that reads...Attention Tom Rowe and Assistants! Your cab will be waiting at the gate immediately after the game..haha |

He is, and OMFG does that bode well for the team. His hockey IQ is obviously off the charts and he'll just keep getting better. |

I do think so.
I always thought it unreasonable that folks, anecdotally, thought he could jump in and do what Coots does/did. Like, what Coots did wasn't a big deal and anyone could do it. |

I think he still has runway...my problem is he suffers from "Braydenitis", in that he free-lances too much and the coaching staff gets spun up about it. Its that whole wing vs. center item that causes them problems...I think their brain tells them to go places on the ice where they shouldn't and it ends up biting them. I agree with several on here that it may be best to get him locked down in the AHL and force him to show on ice discipline to his role. |

I wasn't serious. I just found it funny that he mentioned the sign man and then parenthetically described him. I would assume that everyone who posts in Flyers threads here knows who he is. |

I saw that last night and had a good chuckle.
Matt Read has a meat injury.
