The goal was scored due to players being out of position. How does Vandevelde's lack of skill, come into play on that goal? - MJL
vandevelde could've stopped the pass |

He could've, but that's got nothing to do with a lack of skill. |

luck then...I guess we should've been hoping the pass would deflect off of his skates |

Gotta say Manning was just as much at fault on that Wilson goal. Way too far up on the play - Mordecai
Yeah, Manning was also on the wrong side of the ice. |

Chris VandeVelde excels at having pucks bounce off of his skates and being able to score goals when there is no goalie for the opposition.

I always laugh at how uncomfortable Mason looks in his interviews. He always sounds and looks like he's on the verge of a panic attack. |

Smith also made a really nice play to pass that to Fisher...Ghost expected to break up the play in the neutral zone...not be caught with his pants at his ankles |

I guess you're not considering that the player making the pass, also has some skill. I know you said you don't blame Vandevelde, which I agree with. What I disagree with is bringing skill level into equation on that play. Vandevelde was in solid position, and no player, is going to block every pass. Gostisbehere, who has a very high skill level, was in poor position on the play, and lost his check. |

It's just a coincidence the Flyers are heavily outscored when he's on the ice.

I thought the best way to judge a player was to look at the shot attempt differences, not the actual production numbers.
Edit: Dale Weise ranks at the top of that list, second if you do it only for this year. |

Those aren't production numbers, but if you have the physical ability to click a menu on a web page, you can see the shot attempt numbers on the same page.
VdV is at the bottom of those, too. And at the bottom for actual production numbers over his Flyers career, even with the spike this season. |

Actually, they show the actual difference in production (goals...the things that you score in hockey) when the player was on the ice.
And I did scroll, and he's near the bottom on those, too (although I only saw shots, not shot attempts). Still, fact remains, if you judge one player based on his shot attempt differentials, you should do the same for all players.
Edit: That list also shows that Dale Weise is much more effective at generating offense that Voracek, who is the second worst on the team. |

Try actually looking at the link. It covers his entire career with the Flyers. |

You've been banging your fist all season long about Couturier's 5v5 shot attempt differentials, falsely identified as "possession", all season to prove what an offensive dynamo he has been. You and opeth have had a few rounds of it so far. |

No, I haven't. I've been referencing the fact that he was the Flyers best 5 on 5 point scorer last season, and that is more relevant than his ranking in 20 games this season, especially bearing in mind he is still above Giroux and Schenn. Similarly Ghost is last on the defense in that category, a long way behind MacDonald, but it's not going to last. It's just a quirk of a small sample size.
Over a long period the Flyers top 6 have basically scored at the same rate 5 on 5. Individual stats = Production.
http://stats.hockeyanalys...p=1&sort=PCT&sortdir=DESC
But it's funny how shot attempts aren't possession and don't even matter when they are the thing that's being used constantly on this forum to trash MacDonald for over three years. |

I don't like MacDonald because his legs are too skinny, and I have an assumption that he prefers to be called Drew over Andy |
