Last night was Simmers first time in the top 3. It's been Cousins, G, Jake all year so far as the top 3. Man that building erupted when Simmer stepped on the ice for that attempt.

Indeed, it did. It was awesome.

Actually 15th isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not horrible. What is their record in shootouts this year? Is it 2-1?
- PLindbergh31

3-2, most shootouts in the league this season.

But I'd be OK if we didn't play another one till next season. Being so bad at them for so long means I can't really enjoy watching them.

3-2 is great for them. But only allowing 3 shootout goals in 5 shootouts is tough to swallow losing 2.

I heard from a buddy here at work that people are now doing the Ric Flair/ Travis Konecny "WOOO!!! WOOO!!!" now down there.

If true that is freakin awesome. TK is a fan favorite and he isnt even 20 yet.

yeah, i'd love for marchand to have dropped them with wayne. never happen though. punk.
- hammarby31

I don't understand why nobody has dropped him yet? I respect Marchand's skill but he's lucky nobody has fed him his own teeth by now. I'm actually worried Konecny might become the same player in terms of how he carries himself.

Yeah. I don't particularly like Cousins and Simmonds in the top 3 shooters. I'd go with Ghost, Giroux, Voracek.
- PLindbergh31

We don't have anyone who's really good at it, but I liked Lyubimov getting a shot because I think he's done well at them in the KHL.

I would take Schenn out of the top 10 shooters. 1/12 is not good.

I refuse to even watch a shootout. Thats my own silly little and thoroughly ineffectual protest against the shootout rule. Why don't we just not play hockey at all? Why don't we just have 60 minutes of shootouts? Wouldn't that be lovely?

I hate the "Whoo", it's not creative and it doesn't mean anything.

I would rather a goalie fight settle the extra point up for grabs after OT.

..or a tie. They worked just fine before 2005.

I'm fine with Ric Flair doing it because it's his own thing. It belongs to him but anyone else, I roll my eyes at.

Keep in mind that I love Travis Konecny. I think he's gonna bring what we've been missing Briere was shown the exit. I just don't have much respect for Patrick Kane or Brad Marchand who are small guys with amazing talent levels but probably deserve to get punched in the face nightly. Simmonds should have tuned Marchand.

I'm totally ok with a tie to end a regular season game. In a perfect world, teams would play until there was a winner. We don't live in that world. The NHL can't afford to have a 5 OT game when a team is in the middle of playing 6 games in 9 nights.

Someone who is better at math than me (pretty much everyone) would have to tell me what the actual impact of having 3 point games is... but it seems like its so hard to catch up in the standings when you have fallen behind, when on any given night, two teams you are trying to catch have a game that goes to overtime and you just know one of them is getting two points and the other is getting the loser's point.

I don't mind it, at home, celebrating a goal with my kids, because it's silly fun. Out in public with 19,000 wanna-be comedians/cool kids? No thanks.
