Aside from the "Stollie Stollie he's our man" post early in the day, your absence yesterday was noticed.
Seeing as you're such a big Flyers fan, and therefore enjoy it when they win, I thought you would be much more prominent yesterday in celebrating the win, as you post a good deal on this blog most other days.
Oddly enough, PLind, another fan who also enjoys the Flyers doing well, was absent yesterday as well. Odd. - jmatchett383
Haha. This is nothing new. Also I feel like it's engrained in the very fabric of being a Philadelphia sports fan. The soap box calls your name way more when things go bad. |

Haha says the goalie. I'm stoked as well, but honestly I'm more excited to see how Myers does as I'm a defenseman myself. Funny how that works. |

Still can't believe that someone thought it would be smart to blackmail him with pictures of him sleeping with an 18-year-old super model. - jmatchett383

i'm nearly as excited, but there's no obvious cliché nickname for Philippe Meyers, so left him out. |

Maybe an odd question, but does anyone know if Hollydell Ice Arena gets busy for public skating during the week? I want to take my daughter there maybe this week or next, but don't wanna go if there will be a ton of people. - jmatchett383
I've never been. How old is your daughter and what's her skating skill level? On black Friday I took my 7 year old niece ice skating at City Hall in Philly. Tons of people - mostly kids and tourists that had never skated before. This was my nieces second time skating. I had to hold on to her the whole time. She fell every 5 feet or so. I dropped her off with mum-mum and then pulled a Youngblood, zipping through the crowd at top speed for 2 round-abouts before getting yelled at lol. |

It's a total poop show. The new coach/old GM just bumped his role from AHL coach to NHL coach, by way of GM, in like 6 months. It's downright Machiavellian. And it does sound like the owner is Darth Sidious pulling the strings over there.
There's no doubt that Florida looks off right now, but they have had a tough time with Ekblad's expanded role/regressing, Jagr and Jokinen sucking, Huberdeau injured, and roster upheaval that needed time to click. On paper, I do strongly believe they upgraded their roster this offseason and trimmed the fat. It's not like they are doing awful though, and it's early. Gallant simply had deep disagreements with management....and that's what got him canned. And poorly as it was handled, I do think the fawning over him is a bit much. We've seen this same poop before with Hartley and Roy, where a "hockey guy" coach, without much recent or any NHL success, rides unsustainable numbers to the glory land. The media trips over itself writing their wonderful narratives before everything comes back down to Earth. But hey, at least Gallant didn't get fired 3 games into the season. - Mononoke
It is tough when you have a 103 pt team and you're looking at your roster the next year and there are 10 new guys on the it. |

I agree, which is why I think they still need time to mesh. But I don't think Gallant was fired at all for their record. It was a behind the scenes disagreement. And like I said, pretty much all of their trades and signings have been for the better. Gudbranson with his team worst goal differentials on Vancouver or Kulikov with his 0 points aren't the reason. Marchessault is their leading goal scorer; Sceviour, Yandle, Demers have all been big upgrades. Really, as a team their issue has been all of their core guys, who were there last year, having horrible seasons. That doesn't have much to do with new guys. |

Sometimes you can tweak a team too much. I agree, we have to wait and see what happens, there's still a ton of hockey left. Analytics don't account for chemistry. I love when I hear teams the Flyers might have to compete against, are going all in on analytics.

So this game is on NBCSN but Jim Jackson and Boucher are the commentary? I feel like I'm watching a better version of a Flyers home broadcast. Lol suck it Bruins fans having to watch this.
