Still can't believe that someone thought it would be smart to blackmail him with pictures of him sleeping with an 18-year-old super model. |

"Mr. Jagr, if you don't deliver $2000 (really???) by the end of the day, the world will know that you, a 43-year-old single man, was having sex with an 18-year-old model who happens to have a boyfriend."
I don't know how that didn't work. |

Maybe an odd question, but does anyone know if Hollydell Ice Arena gets busy for public skating during the week? I want to take my daughter there maybe this week or next, but don't wanna go if there will be a ton of people. |

My guess is that during school hours probably any rink is lightly attended |

That's my guess. Maybe Johnny Hockey will be rehabbing there.
Actually met a guy whose son played with him. And, as expected, he made everyone else on the rink look silly. |

He's too small, he'll never make it in the NHL. |

Everything I've heard this comes from the owner and the surrounding staff. Certainly the GM is completely on board but not the driving force. He's more qualified to be the coach then he was to be the GM. As GM he was a yes man. Now the coach and interim GM are both going to be yes men. Let's see how that works. - mayorofangrytown
It's a total poop show. The new coach/old GM just bumped his role from AHL coach to NHL coach, by way of GM, in like 6 months. It's downright Machiavellian. And it does sound like the owner is Darth Sidious pulling the strings over there.
There's no doubt that Florida looks off right now, but they have had a tough time with Ekblad's expanded role/regressing, Jagr and Jokinen sucking, Huberdeau injured, and roster upheaval that needed time to click. On paper, I do strongly believe they upgraded their roster this offseason and trimmed the fat. It's not like they are doing awful though, and it's early. Gallant simply had deep disagreements with management....and that's what got him canned. And poorly as it was handled, I do think the fawning over him is a bit much. We've seen this same poop before with Hartley and Roy, where a "hockey guy" coach, without much recent or any NHL success, rides unsustainable numbers to the glory land. The media trips over itself writing their wonderful narratives before everything comes back down to Earth. But hey, at least Gallant didn't get fired 3 games into the season. |

They have to stop committing egregious turnovers, and having defensive breakdowns in their own end. Yes there has been soft goals allowed a fair amount this year, but for the most part the goaltenders have been hung out to dry.
I've never seen a team get burned as much as this team. It seems like nearly every mistake ends up in their net. - PLindbergh31
the goaltending this is mental/compounding issue in my mind. you give up all these ridiculous breakdowns and they go in, you think you won't ever make the saves. and believe me the goalies are just waiting for the breakdowns. it's not if, but when. they've made plenty of big saves, but the breakdowns are so frequent and so many, that some just end up in the net and nobody remembers the great saves they made.
mason has started to turn his game around. i think he'll get better and better.
they have got to play better in their own end and that will level out the 5 on 5 discrepancy. to me that's the key. they're scoring plenty, and the PP is terrific.

In response to BiggE .......I have mixed feelings. I expected a 7-8 seed again for the playoffs and I ALWAYS root for the playoffs but part of me feels as tho missing the playoffs could be the best thing in the sense that they will try to move all of the UFAs like Streit and Schultz and call up kids like Morin and Leier to get some experience. - nastyflyergirl
i think they'll try to move them regardless. i know it's stupid, but i'd like the team to make the playoffs in their 50th anniversary season. |

I think the Flyers houdl look into bringing back Claude Vilgrain, one of the few (if not only) Haitian Americans in league history. - jmatchett383

I think this is all fair. I'm tired of picking at one player as a way of venting. Scott Laughton for example was getting the Konecny love for three seasons and guess what? He's never made steps towards being a full time NHLer. He's the forgotten man. He's someone who deserves criticism but doesn't get it. As for Mark Streit, I would have traded him last summer and I would trade him for anything right now. I'm a believer in not scratching a player who wears a letter but I'm laying off this belief.
What this team boils down to for me, the team goes as Giroux goes. Trying to rashionalize this team in any other way is embarrassing. There are a lot of guys who need to improve but we need our best players to be our best players. - SuperSchennBros
so the whole team's fortune rides on G? it's embarrassing to look at it another way? i don't share that view.

i don't think he'll ever become the type of player he was toward the end of last year in any consistent way. and if he's not that, i'm not interested. |
