Were the Flyers on top, or even in the middle, we'd still have complaining about CV here. - Scoob
I think that VDV being teflon warrants discussion. VDV had trouble making a bad Edmonton squad, yet VDV continues to play every game for us. Sure, VDV plays hard, but VDV just isn't good enough for the NHL. VDV is an ideal 13th forward, but VDV not being scratched and players other that VDV being passed over in favor of VDV is concerning. VDV. |

Every team has issues, some more than others. At the same time, some people just love having stuff to complain about. I'd prefer my favorite teams play well, personally. Sadly, I'm not getting much out of my top-4 this year (Flyers, Phillies, Steelers, Eagles). - jmatchett383
I am feeling the same with my 3 teams- Flyers, Reds and Broncos. I understand the Flyers are in a part of the process where we are going to be stuck in a ton of 1 goal games, win or lose. It won't be fun to lose based on one or two bad plays like last night but that's just where this team is right now and most likely for the season. Bubble fight here we come again.
The Broncos are winning even with their offensive issues but I saw the Raiders as the class of that division even before the season started. And well if you follow baseball for any period of time you know where the Reds stand post Big Red Machine and the brief resurgence in 1990. |

Besides, there is not one person here who is better equipped to make player decisions than coach Hakstol and his staff. |

Penguins fans are usually complaining about Maata, Pouliot, Fehr, and sometimes Rust and Fleury. - jmatchett383
They should be complaining about Primanti's.

At the risk of piling on already picked apart carcass', clearly Mason has not been as strong as he should be to this point in the season. And I find it slightly alarming that he left without fielding questions last night, which might well indicate a fragile state of mind. And without critiquing his technique since I am not a goalie coach, does anyone else hold their breath every single flipping time that an opposing player goes for a wrap around on either of our goaltenders? I realize neither is Bobrovsky, but it would be nice if that particular move didn't inspire terror every time, and I'm not sure Turris didn't have a scouting report when it occurred to him to attempt that.
As for Coots, it would be nice if he could somehow work on his hand skills just a little bit. For a guy who lived with Briere coming up, he's got the mitts of a brick layer, and I'd love to see him practicing Danny's rake and roof pregame routine for hours on end just to see if that helps, or at least keep his stick on the ice in the event that he's more open than he realizes. There are seemingly nightly occasions out there where Konecny and Provorov are out thinking their teammates with their creativity and vision in making plays with the puck, only for guys like Coots(anticipation/quickness of hands) or Schenn(likely just intelligence) to squander the chance due to a lack of awareness. I am hopeful that all of these components improve, but leaving these points on the table in the early going this season might well come back to haunt this club once the calendar flips, and every team starts making a push for the playoffs. - fortunaught
I disagree that Couturier has "mitts of a brick layer". He actually has very good hands, and a really good wrist shot. I believe he has a confidence issue right now, and is thinking too much. Last night, Mason overplayed to one side on the wrap around goal, but otherwise was very good, including in the shootout. Mason's play last night gave the team a chance to win the game. |
