I agree, if we can sustain the defensive effort for another 4 seasons we should have enough talent to eke out some 2-1 wins. - golfingsince
So defence doesn't win games? |

Stop blaming the goalie equipment for a sh!tty team.
Blame Benning
Blame Desjardins
Blame Linden
Blame players - thundachunk
Oh hi Thunda. That was sarcasm, tongue in cheek, taking the piss, or whatever you want to call it. Sorry I wasn't clear . |

It wins championships. However, you need to score to get to the playoffs. |

I think trading Tanev for a forward makes sense. But would need to be a young forward. Someone that can be here for 6+ years. - Retinalz
Colorado would most likely take Tanev but it will cost us + + to get Landeskog here.
Is it worth it? Sbizza-Gaunce-3rd gets us nothing and that's what we need to be selling lol |

Like I said before, the only bad bounces we've had in the past year that really mattered were at the lottery. |

Here's a link. I suggest you check it regularly. Do you forget already how we won the 1st 4 games?
Add 3 points for bounces, then take away 3 points for bounces and see where we land each time.
I'll be waiting here for your answer and with a definition of moderate. - golfingsince
The team has been plagued by lack of scoring the first goal to start the season. So much so it seems as if they are playing for a shoot out. Their systems play is not designed for catch up. They have tried and have been failing in the slump. A cold PP as well adds to the misfiring of the game plan.
The many blown chances to score will eventually pay off just like it wasn't sustainable to win by playing from behind. There are a lot of players 24 and under on the roster so the potential will eventually translate into success if they keep getting the opportunities in their play.
That said it doesn't make them a powerhouse either. The margins for success to failure are thin for this team. |

Tanev isn't a problem moving forward. His low point totals should minimize an extension.
I don't want to try and fix holes by creating others.
I still wish we'd drafted Princess Willy instead of Virt. |

So I should just ignore the fact that they finished bottom 5 last year, and that they currently sit 24th in the league despite having played more games ( often multiple) than every team below them in the standings?
All of this because you call yourself a moderate? |

Tanev out of the line-up did not make us significantly worse defensively. Trading him would open a small hole on defense, but fix a bigger hole on offense |

The fault lies with the Canucks for not executing but did they not have chances to score in this 1-0 game...? |

The best of our kids. I'm surprised with the Swedish links the Nucks have, that they went with Jake. |

I'm not huge on 3 game sample sizes.
If what you're suggesting is he isn't that good, then he won't get much of a return. |

For the record, you can (frank) off anytime.
Also, that's who I wanted before the draft, during the draft, and after the draft. A few wanted Ehlers, most wanted Virt. |

have you seen a good bounce go in, that's all it takes, I have played competitive hockey for a long time and its a mental thing now for sure. There playing quite well just cant get a bounce. |

Just watching the Bruins and Lightning shootout.
Ehlers looks good as well. |

Dude, they need much more than a bounce. I played competitive hockey for a long time as well. Usually, the team that can score wins. |

Reread my answer it was balanced and did not tell you to ignore anything either. Your early conclusion is premature as there are a lot more games to play to see where they fall.
Last season they were in play off contention until injuries and poor play did them in. Their margin for error was even less last season as their roster was less talented and capable. Nothing outlandish here this is a rebuilding team who's margin to win is thin.
It doesn't make them a powerhouse or a presumptive cellar dweller. They could just as easily wind up there or make the play offs based on all the factors we have mentioned. |

What would he cost to get at the deadline.
Also, who else would be trade bait towards the end of the season? |

Bennings plan (if one is to believe that he actually has one) seems to be working in the sense that he's building from the net out.
Goalies and D have been pretty darn solid the last 10 games yet there is very little talent up front. Unfortunately, I don't see that being fixed ( lack of both depth and assets) for some time.
Even IF Brock comes in as a Calder candidate next season, that still won't be enough to drive this offense lol. |

Karlson.... enjoy the steal ... it was well earned off a blooper by Marky. |
