Food for thought.
If the Canucks didn't come back and win their fist 4 games, they'd be 0-10. |
|
|

Agreed. As long an the Canucks take the step to actually do something about it. I'm skeptical the organization will, but it's what they have to do.
Many here defended the "you don't need high picks to become good" position or "you can become good without picking top 3".
Unfortunately, in today's NHL, that's not the case.
I think working in Vancouver's favour (assuming they started last year) they can get a really good head start on the rest of the West as it seems to be on the decline somewhat - walshyleafsfan
How are the high picks helping you guys? Last time I checked you guys will still hovering around the bottom.
Do you know how insane it seems from our point of view when fans of bottom dwellers come in here and tell us how bad Canucks are and how good their bottom 10 team is?

I can't speak for most but personally, I didn't think they were going to win the cup but last in the league I didn't think either.
Van added some quality parts and a few healthier players, the team should have probably improved. Not sure what's with the goal scoring drought right now. Plenty of grade A scoring chances that aren't being converted.
Right now I think a coaching change would be the best. Can't make too many trades because they don't have the depth to fill in. - manvanfan
To what end? Another AHL coach? Another teams coach throwaway?
Let's work on some personnel issues first and let the players try to get out of this funk and see where it goes.
How bout we don't send our best puck moving dman in Stecher back to Utica for starters... |

JB apparently passed on Brandon Pirri as a UFA, signs with NYR. 4G 2A would have been our leading scorer. Cap Hit: $1,100,000
Now we're looking for a 20 goal scorer. |

shots totals
Sutter 25 - 0g
D Sedin 24 - 2g
Larsen 19 - 0g
Erikson 18 - 0g
Edler 19 -1g

the list goes on and on - they've had lots of quality scoring chances, at some point you have to think luck and the hockey gods are not on our side - but something's gotta give bcus this is insane |

I'm fine with this, my expectations were very low coming into the season. Apparently some people here had high expectations, and were talking playoffs.
Now 10 games in they are hysterical, while I'm sitting on my high horse enjoying the view. |

Our coach does suck but you could have legend Mike Babcock in there and it wouldn't make a difference.
Canucks style is a slow perimeter game played out on the boards. Alsways looking for the extra perfect pass. This team is not built for speed and shoot and crash the net for a rebound.
Both Habs goals last night were a shot and rebound hard to the net. Last time Canucks did that was back in 2012 against the Bruins |

Benning should call Sven into his office and tell him. We are not waiting 40 games again this year until you score, you have 10 games to get going or we are putting you back on Utica |

Meh. Let's not forget Nucks fans had their moments a few years ago.
Let's move on from thinking that the validity of someone's opinions are somehow related to the fortunes of the team that they follow. Once we all do that, we'll make a lot of headway.
Do you think Cub's fans now know more about baseball than Red Sox or Yankees' fans?
The high picks are helping us out dramatically. No one has ever said that (for example) if you pick top 3 two years in a row, the third year you win the cup. No one.
I think, since the lockout every Stanley Cup wining team has had at least 1 top 2 pick playing or them, most of the time more than that. That can't be a coincidence right?
You need star players to win. And with the reluctance for star players to go to UFA, how do you go about getting said star players? |

regardless of expectations - it's still pretty depressing. No one should be routing for their team to lose.
also, its still early, you saw how much things changed after xmas for Pitts last year, not saying that's gonna happen to us!!
On the flip side of comment about us coming back and winning the first 4 games, you have to admit we've been highly unlucky in most games when it comes to scoring and like I said its not like we haven't had quality chances. Its a team wide snake bite. lets revisit this by the 20 game mark. |

See this here is why I think you are a wiener .
1) First off when we were in there telling you your team sucked , ours was playing for the cup.
2) Just because you say lets move on doesn't mean I am moving on. Only an idiot comes in here telling us how bad we are when their team has less wins and is just as bad as ours.
3) You thinking the high picks has helped your team substantially when they are sitting at 3 wins and 7 losses supports my comment about being an idiot that I called you in point number two.

agreed - man Sven has had some chances and some terrible luck but I admit he's not playing to his potential. Also, maybe tell Loui you don't get paid unless you actually score. |

at this rate - Utica's gonna have a hell of team!! The Sedins and Chaput with Sautner and Negrin on D as the first line.
OFF TOPIC - Jordan Subban gets sh&t on so much for his lack of Defensive awareness so why not move him to right wing? he's clearly a goal scorer, has this idea ever been tossed around? |

Spot on Vantel. Walshy thinks very highly of his opinion. He must be one of those 'experts' Makita was hating the other week.

No problem Vantel, it's practically impossible to offend me. I honestly have no issues with anything written and/or said to me.
1) Every team is playing for a cup every year. You got closer than a few franchises have. Some have cup's, others don't. Those years, you were one of 29 losers.
2) Again, no worries about thinking I'm offended. You don't have to move on, no one can make you, but it makes life easier if you do. I can spot a bad team, even though my favourite team is also bad, in the same manner i can spot a car, even though i am not a car.
3) Again, for some reason you think others think, the minute you pick with a high draft pick you become good, and if you don't then it's an irrelevant strategy. It's not.
The Sedin's didn't really dominate until their 4th season. And then they did do in a big way. Can you imagine this franchise without ever having the Sedin's? How did they get the Sedin's.? IF not through the draft, how would you propose the Nucks acquire the two guys who have scored more points than any other in the Nucks uniform? |

Sure it's depressing, and I'd rather we were the team we once were. But this is our new reality, and accepting that instead of having blind faith will make this season (and a couple more ) more easy to swallow. |
