I think they felt Mitchell was the same player and they got Danault back in the trade who they see as having more of an upside in the future. Also with Carr coming along and being a banger with speed, Weise became redundant.

I am not calling him anything. I am just saying the fans and media want a direction and that's it. Who would we deal for a 20+ goal scorer? What current roster player is worth that? Then you look to D, we have extra D-men currently but who would be worth that? Then you look to prospects/picks, which frankly, Jim has never been shy of trading.

In 1997 the Nucks finished 10th last, they'd just traded for Markus Naslund the year before, in 1998 they finished 4th last and traded Linden to the NYI for Bertuzzi & McCabe, in 1999 they finished third last and traded McCabe and a 1st for the pick to take Daniel and they traded Bure to Florida for Jovo.

In 2000 they traded Mogilny to NJ for Morrison and they were on their way to a fun few years with the WCE days. I know they don't currently have an asset like Bure to acquire a #1 dman like Jovo, but they've drafted Juolevi who has the potential.

The moral of the story is in a four or five year period they turned the team around and we had some good hockey for several years because of it....it's gonna happen again, just gotta be patient with the process.

Seems like a pretty fair trade

Van gets a 20 goal scorer, Mont gets the dman they wanted. Mont gets Baer with the potential to score 15-20 and Van gets a late 1st rounder.

Its still early in the season, but MTL's window to win is clearly now. Weber is peaking, Price is peaking. They are not going to be better than what they are now. My issue is that Petry plays a similar game to Tanev but has more offensive upside. Why does MTL even need D. They have a very capable top 6 right now. They also have promising defensive prospects in Juulsen and Sergachev.

The 1st makes me consider it, but since I'm not a big fan of Gallagher fan I would probably say no. I understand he is skilled, fast, and gritty but I just cant seem him getting the same success over in the pacific division facing the larger teams on a regular basis
