"This team just doesn't have an identity.... They are stuck between trying to win now and rebuilding... They are basically where the Leafs were 10 years ago..."

Could be the hour, I've also noted several posters are not contributing as they used to.

I miss Zogg and his twisted and creative posts.

I think people need to realize it's ok to be bad every once and awhile. It allows you to replenish and build. Canucks have had some good entertaining teams over the years, sure they haven't won a Championship but during their down-cycles, for the most part, they reloaded and came away with some nice teams.

Window closed....but they won two Stanley Cups, so whatever moves they made to win now, it was damn well worth it.

I agree with the cyclical nature of things and actually think the team will bounce back quickly this time around. They are really well positioned with the expansion draft as they have build a solid prospect pool and have some young players that are showing to be NHLers. They are lacking the elite youth, but I hope in the next draft or two we find one that can be developed properly (I am not assuming we will be gifted one in a top 3 draft slot)

My biggest concern will be how the NHL team and particularly the coaching staff handles the young players that will likely join the lineup. We saw last year how difficult it was with a sophomore Horvat, and rookies McCann Virtanen and Hutton were used. There is no easy answer but they need to be comfortable with more mistakes made by these young guys

They're still admiring their selfies with the Cup...I highly doubt they have time for self pity, it changes things.

how big is the group that, if they ran the team, think they would have that team tops in the west? and if you have rings, you just stuff them in your ears and ignore the folks saying you're living in the past.

In 1997 the Nucks finished 10th last, they'd just traded for Markus Naslund the year before, in 1998 they finished 4th last and traded Linden to the NYI for Bertuzzi & McCabe, in 1999 they finished third last and traded McCabe and a 1st for the pick to take Daniel and they traded Bure to Florida for Jovo.

In 2000 they traded Mogilny to NJ for Morrison and they were on their way to a fun few years with the WCE days. I know they don't currently have an asset like Bure to acquire a #1 dman like Jovo, but they've drafted Juolevi who has the potential.

The moral of the story is in a four or five year period they turned the team around and we had some good hockey for several years because of it....it's gonna happen again, just gotta be patient with the process.

management preaches patience, ownership preaches patience, JB preaches patience, yet we hear rumors the Canucks are shopping for a 20+ goal scorer and will most likely ship off a prospect or pick for that said scorer.

yeah they made some smart moves in the offseason...
Weber 10pts +12 being the stud D as advertised and living up to the hype
Radulov looks awesome
4th line scoring from Mitchell & Byron
the kids are playing well = Danault, Lehkonen and even Carr before injury
and their top guys are all producing
they look unstoppable right now
Plekanec and Shaw are the only ones not going yet
