Yeah that's possible but Canucks don't think have much to offer to protect what's exposed as the ask would be damaging to a rebuilding team
- Nuck4U

Meh I dont think it would cost much at all, as long as they are smart about who they expose. If youre looking to reacquire one of Rodin, Granlund or Gaunce, the cost of a 22-25 year old player with less than 100 career NHL games and underwhelming point totals cannot be very high, maybe a 3rd rounder at best? Sven was 22 and cost a 2nd round pick but thats inflated price because Benning sucks at trades

Yeah the rules are clear, but its just messing with things in how much positioning and preparations are being made (ie Sbisa/Biega games played requirement). Also it gets in the way of acquiring established talent, because unless you're dealing someone away, you've got to be aware of the impact on your protection list: If VAN wants to make a push for Fowler or Trouba, they have to send one of Edler, Tanev, or Gudbranson the other way to maintain 3 D worth protecting.

Absolutely ... what I would say to Dbot on getting a forward for Tanev.... means he's got to clearly superior to Baertchi and then you know you are losing a top 6 guy too... it does get nuts ... unless of course they get an exempt guy for Taney which would be quite the score if he's an impact player

Even if LV takes as low as a 3rd rounder people would say that's damaging for a rebuilding team.... remember it would be that plus losing a guy to LV... don't know for a thin team like the Nucks if that would be the right call for them

That top 6 forward could be exposed at draft

Not discounting what you said and just exploring what VAntel brought up.... but if they did this cause it would be their decision to do it not JB... it would be as I said with understanding they would retire. So would Vegas do it and for one it's not worth it for them. But if you say they would seek Canucks to trade Hank then that is a drafters special as the Senins as a package are not likely tradable and second have the NMC. So hey worst case scenario LV takes that plunge it would pump up the rebuild.

But I agree it's risky either way and probably not likely ... just to save Granny/Guance/Rodin if they don't bite on SBisa

- Nuck4U

I don't care that much about any of those players. All fairly replaceable/unproven.

I dont think youre following, I am saying the Vegas tells VAN we will be taking Granlund in the expansion draft. Benning says we would prefer to keep him, so they negotiate a trade. Paperwork would say, Vegas selected Grandlund in the expansion draft, followed by a trade between Van and Vegas after the draft.

See the "Deals" section for what I mean: https://en.wikipedia.org/.../2000_NHL_Expansion_Draft

Vegas can't trade a player taken in the draft back to the original team . I think I heard that.

Life`s good, Makky.
Jumping out of the lemming closet has been very liberating.

Donny doesn't talk to me now that he is a Season Ticket Holder and Vanny never reads my posts but I'm ok with that.

I thought I heard that too but couldnt find anything on it. This article posted after the rules were announced seems to suggest the same:

Did they ever stop looking from the JB announced need a top 6 LW...? So you think they are in favor of giving up a bigger asset now that would be the issue

TSN insider Trading took a 1/2 second to stop talking about Toronto to mention the Canucks are actively looking for a 20 goal scorer.

That was it --- 1 sentence.

No details what-so-ever.

Anyone heard anything?
