This is true, but I think the 4-7 round datsyuk type gems will become more and more rare as the years go on. Though iI hink that rounds 5-7 should all be high risk high reward type players. No sense trying to get a safe player in rounds where safe = AHL. - Retinalz
Most definitely agree. For the most part Benning seems to of done that with the exception of Stewart and Petit. |

Try and spin it however you want. This team needs Horvat as an offensive leader and that includes giving him some good line mates. WD realized his mistake, it's okay you don't need to continue defending him. - belcherbd
I don't care about WD. I only care about Gaunce and lemmings |

I see Ek now has Halak going to TO
That's Halak Trouba Fowler going there. I sure hope they don't give away any of their future HHOF prospects for them - VANTEL
I've only been on here since 2014 but has Ek predicted anything? |

Are you talking about the "a big trade is going to happen today" and then one happened and he said " i told you so"?

I can't remember what it was either, but it was substantial enough for Dreger and a few others to actually toss credit Ek's way |

Hate to say it but Burrows back is actually a better option than Skille or Zalewski.
Why can't Gaunce be like Horvat...
 - LordHumungous
Watch out Vantel will buzz you on this .... but yeah he's a smarter player then them. |

Really?! That's an interesting comparison. Juolevi seems a lot faster and offensive than Tanev already. 42 points in 57 games doesn't scream defensive d-man to me. I've truthfully only watched him in the WJHC's and was very impressed.
You and everyone on this page were for Sergachev. - neem55
Yeah.... I see that plus JB likes his upside and hockey IQ better. He just need to grow into an NHL body strength wise they say. I don't see him as a heavy D guy but maybe we he has the hockey IQ to be like Lindstrom. Good at all areas and used his hockey smarts to always be in the right place at the right time. |

I think Hamhuis is probably a lot better of a comparison.
Scored at just under a ppg in his draft year, went back to juniors and scored ppg and was named CHL defensman of the year.
Spent the next year in the AHL, then spent his rookie season in the NHL 3 years after being drafted and scored 26 pts in 80 games.
With any luck OJ is able to follow a similar path. - belcherbd
People, will want him to be playing next season lol.... most want him to be better then Hammer who didn't quite stand up to being a 1D. |

WAY too early to tell.
Writing off a prospect or saying he is a longshot after his draft + 1 or draft + 20 games at junior is a bit dramatic. - Codes1087
Totally agree .... well said .... you are still a good poster |

I follow the prospects closely and this is just a guess on my part, but I'd say, Juolevi, Boeser, Demko, Tryamkin, Brisebois and Lockwood are the only kids that have a realistic chance to play for the team. Some of the others, late rounders, may surprise, but I seriously doubt it. - Pacificgem
Not a bad haul way and if you add a couple more like you said from the we will see category sure sounds like a new wave of Canucks in the making |

Stecher has looked very good. WTF is going on with Cassels? - LordHumungous
He peeked in junior playing against Mcdavid....
Who knows it's not like he's getting a to of ice time to develop. My thinking is they don't think he's fast enough and strong enough to make it. The injuries haven't helped and point to durability issues. They like Guance better for 4th line center now. Maybe a couple more years they see Cassels as capable but don't see it. |

I'd say second round if you want my honest opinion. Every once and awhile you catch lightning in a bottle though, just not very often. - Pacificgem
Hmmm.... Tanev, Hanson, Tree, Bieksa, etc. come to mind and that's just on the can't draft well Canucks.... so yeah odds go down but plenty of NHLers from other rounds won't go into the Bure, Datsyuk steals either |

Meh, I've been around a long time, I'm a fan because this is my local team and that's why I support them. I don't cheer only because they win, or bail when they lose. Things will get better again, it's just gonna take some time. - Pacificgem[/h
YEah in the mean time the how do they improve debates will rage on |
