I think that, all things considered, if they can get a guy like Bishop, they'd prefer him to Mason. - Jsaquella
It's intriguing to think about. With a young defense coming up and starting to filter in he is a guy that can steal games. He is 29. He makes 5.95 million now. Not sure what teams will be looking for goalies that would compete bidding wise.
If it's resigning Mason long term at 5-6 or inking Bishop at 6-6.5 what would you do? |

From a contract stand point, not sure hexy is willing to go much higher of a cap hit with Mason , then he is at right now. Bishop is a guy you get the sense of a goalie who could carry a team through the cup by himself. Does Mason give you that sense of security? Not trying to knock Mason, but everything equal I prefer bishop.

Compared to each other? Compared to last year? Compared to henrik lundquist? - YuenglingJagr
Having not seen Hank much this season yet, I'll go with A and B.
They both have been pulled at one time for a bad goal. And they have survived a few also. |

Would you be saying the same thing if it were Bishop on this team and Mason on the Lightning? It's not an easy thing to do I just happen to believe Mason is one of the better goalies right now |

I wouldn't make any decisions on the goalies till February.
If we're trading for Bishop I'd like his SV% to be better than .880.
I caught some of the Rags-Bolts game last night and Coburn was having one of those games that would have got people here real fired up. |

It is an interesting topic for sure. Bishop is a UFA I believe. I think a few teams may have interest. I'd be down if the contract was good. I do think he can be an upgrade to Mason or Neuvirth but again, depends on price.
Calgary, Buffalo, Carolina, Dallas and hell maybe even Winnipeg are possible. Bishop is going to be 30 before this year is done. He's played around 60 games a year at most. |

Why do I have to compare them to something or someone.
Do you think both have played well?
Do you think both have given up some soft goals?
That's all I am pointing out. Last year they were both solid. This year they both have been one of the weaker parts of the team. - J35Bacher
Because you need to be realistic. They've both looked better but over the course of the season things like that can happen. Especially when the defense makes it look like they are trying to turn the puck over and cover poorly.

Coby is being paid accordingly at this time of his career with his contract extension. Still a great trade for hexy.

Patrick Roy once allowed 8 goals during his time in Montreal.
His best days were clearly behind him, he was no longer a starting NHL goalie. |

That's ok when you've got a guy like Matt Carle. One of the best pressbox seat warmers in the league. |

But he is done as a coach in the NHL.
Unless Montreal hires him post Therrien era. |

I remember his last game as a Habs when he got pulled. An event that changed hockey history. The beginning of the Avs dynasty.

I'm not saying he isn't. This isn't what I would do, it's predicting what the Flyers will do.
I just feel that the Flyers have been lukewarm on Mason since the injuries cropped up during Berube's last season. Despite Mason being one of the best goalies in the league that year, the Flyers seemed to be more bugged by his nagging knee than ecstatic with his great play.

From tsn.ca
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A judge will dismiss the charges against Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane stemming from scuffles with women in a bar if he stays out of future trouble.
The arrangement is contingent on the 25-year-old player avoiding legal issues for the next six months. Kane didn't speak during or after his brief appearance in a Buffalo court. Kane's lawyer says Monday's action doesn't include an admission of guilt, and Kane still denies the allegations.
Kane was arrested in July, a month after allegedly grabbing three women by the hair and neck in separate encounters on the same night in a downtown Buffalo bar. Kane was removed from the club by bouncers. He was charged with misdemeanour disorderly conduct, trespass and noncriminal harassment.
It's nice to know that, in Buffalo, you can physically abuse multiple women and get away with it as long as you don't do it again for 6 months. |

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't even want Bishop. I'm simply saying I get the feeling the Flyers are lukewarm on Mase. |

Look Jeff, if you can start to ease off on the bodies you eat, you know, maybe one less limb every month, I think we can knock this down to probation. |

My gut reaction is still that there was a personality conflict between Berube and Reese as to how Mason was being handled and used. |

That's another leg to the idea I have that the Flyers are kind of lukewarm on keeping Mason past this season.

Wasn't it around the time when Mason was rushed back from injury?
Who the hell knows but I think Reese tried to argue for Mason not playing. |
