Bombs?

Shink and McCann are rookies and are on the same learning curve as Virt.
Hunter's doing well for his AHL team (4 points in 5 games). Showing promise.
McCann had 18 points for the Canucks last season. That's a decent rookie season. Off to a slow start this season but that's not unusual for a second year player. He should be playing meaningful minutes in the AHL. That FLA roster doesn't need him right now.

Hammy is an aging vet who has played his best hockey but I'll bet he'll be playing playoff minutes this year.

To me, the above players aren't bombs yet.

Carol....I guess the team did technically hang in with the Caps last night, however, despite the relatively close shot-count, the Canucks were completely outclassed by a much better Capitals team in the first and second periods. Especially the second period.

Like always the better team relaxed in the 3rd and sat back a bit.

I thought Virtanen and Horvat were having poopty games, they didn't look good, then all of a sudden they seemed like they found something and started to create.

To be quite honest the canucks didn't play to bad for a team that's played 3 back to backs and 9 in 15 days while a top team sits in van for 3 days riding a 2 game losing streak.

If I were Winnipeg, I would be trying my best to trade Trouba to Edmonton for Puljujarvi to unite the two Finns.

Jeff Skinner would be an interesting target for the Nucks imo

Going back to your original post... How do you differentiate between a violent and predatory play and an appropriate hockey play?

Whats the difference between jakes shoulder to shoulder half check on polak in which he faked by the way and saunter getting hit late and carried off on a stretcher, or burrows almost snapping his neck from a hit from behind. I bet burrows 3 daughters are begging there dad to quit now before he loses his quality of life, if I was burrows I would quit and sue this BS league.

THIS a different season in that many teams that were hopeless have improved so there aren't any easy games and tougher games against the elite teams becuase they need the wins just a super bad.

ya but playing back to backs or 3 in 4 and 9 in 15 days you cant be as sharp physicly or mentally at this level its not humanly possible and erikkson and guddy and a few others have never been through a schedule like the canucks get hammered with every freaking year and its done on purpose.

I think you may be over exaggerating what you perceive as an issue.

I was really angry when Vancouver decided to open a can of worms when they applied real world rules to the playing surface. When they charged McSorley and found him guilty of assault with a weapon they (frank)ed it up. It later bit them in the ass when one of our own players was ‘guilty’ of assaulting another player. Idiots.

If you look through NHL history you’ll be able to find heinous acts during game play. But considering the sheer amount of games played through the NHL’s history, the amount of serious injuries occurring from a single act is miniscule. That’s amazing considering the inherent danger of playing high level hockey.

Violent acts are a part of the game and if you want to be honest it’s glorified and honored amongst ‘hockey purists’.

I think it's very difficult to differentiate between the two if you want to keep playing professional hockey the way we have come to love it.
