So what's the general consensus this morning is WD in trouble?

Evander Kane time?

- LordHumungous

There is no quick fix for this. The team is competitive but not a scoring team. Seems to me that guys are trying to do it all on there own at times.

This team just doesn't seem to have any energy. There isn't a line that can go out and get the crowd going. They need a high energy line that can skate, hit and cause a sh*t storm.

Looking at the empty seats and the listless crowd is hard. I know it's up to the team to produce to get the crowd excited and enthused but there is more excitement in a JR B game.

This will be a long drawn out yr if they can't stop the bleeding right now.

I don't like Bothch but that is a good quote. Very accurate.

How can a team be competitive and have trouble scoring?

A team that's competitive is a team that can win. If you can't score goals how can you win? You can't win games on good defensive systems alone. At some point you have to put the puck in the net.

Agreed!

Just because the games aren't blow outs doesn't mean you're competitive.

WD will lose his job, it's just a matter of time.

Competitive is a catch phrase....to make us all feel better about the product on the ice. It's like a medal for participating. Sounds real good but everyone realizes it doesn't mean poop

I saw too many players last night trying to do it on there own or others trying to make one to many passes instead of shooting. WD's goal was to get more defence and change that system. He has done that. I think we have improved there. We have however degraded on offence. Too many players who we have to score can't and that list is large. Washington is a beast in the East and for the most part they played well against them but when the end of the game neared and the pressure to score was on the caps they didn't panic they waited for a mistake an "capitalized" on it.

I liked the transitional structure of the Canucks last night. In the beginning of the season they played a dump and chase boring game of hockey. Passes are now crisper and the transition to offence is there. As usual though the scoring is not.

We are a .500 team. If we could score we are a little better. We knew this but we still want to see scoring.

It doesn't appear it will come from within at this point. No ones going to help us out unless we grossly over pay. JB's dealing with a double edge sword here. The roster he built isn't producing.

They are playing hard every night. I don't dislike the team he has put together but the both the edges of the sword are like razors.

Let's wait until after the Eastern road trip before we say that for sure, but yes, it is concerning for sure.

Nice work last night when you and Steaming backed up Lefty for flagging Don. Lefty, outstanding flagging and Don good on you to own it. I'm really proud of you guys! A 'thumbs up' for each of you fellas.

They are not likely to blow any one out and in close games you could win just as easily as lose cause that's how it goes with bounces or missed opportunities based on a guy being cold or whatever....

Again, I can't call a .500 team a competitive team. But that's just semantics.

If we were a .500 team with a boatload of rookies and prospects I would be ecstatic. If we are a .500 team with a roster that was advertised as a playoff team then I’m pissed.

Crisp passes and improvements offensive transition should not be an issue considering this is not a young roster. Lots of NHL experience on this team. It just seems to me this team has a veteran roster with a rookie mentality.

I don't know what to make of it.
