WD has to set up some line and let them play.
Also, quit playing around with JV. If you're going to send him down, do it already. Not many people succeed with a noose hung around their neck. He's a kid after all, either support him and teach him, or let him get that from Utica.
It seems most here on the board are better at setting line combinations that twitchy.
Get it together, and let the team gel. - moondawg
I think line juggling is a coaching style and not a reactionary tactic. If people want to see WD change his coaching style then why hire him in the first place? |

That's why I wish we had gone with a Tkachuk or Nylander this year. Too bad we fell to 5th, and I'm sure Juolevi will be a good defensemen in a few years, but we've lacked a game breaker for some time (thinking Sedins as a pair, at their peak - 2010/11). Brock Boeser to the rescue? - we_are_all_canucks
Boeser will take the reigns on the top line with Bo. We already have a Tkachuk, in JV. Nylander could be a great player, but having an elite Dman in the wings is what this team needed.
It was hard to accept, but I have come around. |

Not a fan of the line juggling. Strong teams seem to have set lines, or at the least set pairs, Sedins and x, Bo, Bae and x. I do like Hansen and Sutter together as well.
I guess that is what he is trying to achieve. It's so early, but scoring seems to be limited... |

his career record against the Oilers is 12-0-1 probably has as much to do with his start tonight |

I really think WD has changed his coaching a bit. I see a team that is trying to play to its strength: team defence (decent D, goalies and a more defensive than offensive forward group). Win close games.
There simply isn't a better mix of our current forwards that is going to score, face facts guys- this team has very few skilled forwards. There is a legitimate reason why Toronto, I mean sportsnet, news has been saying were going to be a the bottom of the league: Our offence will not be scoring much, you need to score to win games.
In other news: drafting in the top-5 is good (I may have mentioned this on the board once or twice) |

I would like to see Miller cut down on those muffins he serves up once or twice a game. - bloatedmosquito
I would like to see Miller get a shut out every night.
I watch 2 games a day usually. Most games, the GT's of one team or both let in a softy. If I see a flawless performance in these games, it's almost always with an incredible defensive effort in front of him. Team effort.
Markstrom has let in muffins as well this season.

FRom the last thread
I might be the minority here, but I think the Canucks should pickup Pulkinnen. He has only seen limited ice time in Detroit but his numbers are incredible. His canon of a shot would be an immediate help on the PP (where he was used on the point). He is also very cheap. I would sooner see Skille/Burrows in the press box and see a 4th line of Pulkinnen - Gaunce - Dorsett.
- Codes1087
Wild gave up on him quick too... is it because he's not quick enough to get shot off...?
Wild have younger better option and we don't cause our guy is playing NCAA.
But hey at this point I'd put him with the Sedins as a trigger man if only they were able to gain the blue line .... like with a Stecher type penetration .... who knows .... are we digging for scraps...?
Anyway doubt Canucks will do anything.... they are all about skating ability now. |

I hopeful....Plus the triple B line of Bae, Bo, Boe line would an announcers nightmare. |

Miller has some pretty bad body language when those weak ones go in, Markstrom stomps around and gets angry at himself. We've seen him do the dance a few times this year |

Opposite actually, it will be great press. The killer B's or something. Media loves that poop. Of course that all depends on Sven getting his poop in a group here. |

I think he is this year as well. Skille makes Bo/baerschi worse. At least JV doesn't bring them down. - Retinalz

Totally forgot about Jarvis, good point.
The coaching is not going to make a difference. Bring the sword metaphors back at me if you folks want, the personnel is weak. Arizona might score more goals. |

a little ironic that when we win WD changes up the line-up and when we lose he sticks to his guns - onesmallleap
he's a funny guy.... I honestly give up trying to figure him out .... it seems he likes lunch pale plugs who will jam up the other team as much as possible .... maybe we don't have much else in his eyes |

I think WD has changed his coaching style because his player personnel is now different.
I think the most ironic part of the season so far is that so much was made about last season that with Sutter out, Bo had to play the shutdown role. They wanted to free him up a bit more. Well now Bo starts every shift taking a face-off in his own zone vs the other teams top lines. WD IS DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT HE WANTED TO DO! |

Miller has always had the reputation of someone who keeps his composure after a softy. Now it's bad body language.
This reminds me of when Scooby was all over Luongo after a shut out because he looked behind himself on a really big save. The shut out was irrelevant because of body language after a save apparently. It was an on going argument.
The name of the game is keeping the puck out of the net... not which guy dances after letting in a muffin or looks behind himself after a save. Besides, different personalities act different.
The Miller starts are not hurting this team right now. |
