You are misinformed again. Already on the record stating that MacDonald had an awful game last night, and that I would take him out for Schultz. - MJL

We lost this game because Hakstol refuses to take Chris Vandevelde out of the lineup. |

AMac really is probably our only chance at getting cap compliant when the IR's end.
For all the talk of being out of cap hell we sure had to use LTIR pretty early. - dragonoffrost
Using LTIR when you have month-long injuries is not a big deal. Demoting Laughton and MacDonald in a few days will get the team under the cap ceiling with a 23 man roster.
Cap hell is losing a prospect like Teravainen in order to send a contract like Bickell to Carolina. |

You do realize that they were saddled with long term injuries (not to mention 2 suspensions) to start the season, right? |

My observations from last night...feel free to disagree with it all.
- Macdonald - Gostisbehere pairing is bad right now. Also I think Gostisbehere needs to let the game come to him a little. He seems to be forcing a lot of plays.
- I know Simmonds scored but for most of the game I think he didn't do much. Seems to be in one of those streaks of average to below average play
- Thought Schenn had a good game. Liked Cousins back in the middle. He seems more engaged and effective.
- 1st PP is stale. I think a little change, even if for a game or two would be nice to give different looks.
- Again another soft goal. Seems both goalies aren't on top of there game right now. Mason has been better but still haven't seen a full 60 minute game from our goalies.
- MacDonald = Not so good. - J35Bacher
Not trying to troll by any means, but based on last night's performance I think you summed it up perfectly.

Just send MacDonald back to the Phantoms and be done with it.
Holmgren gave a 6 year 30 million dollar contract to a minor leaguer. Can't make it up. In the future a rule of thumb should be coaching/front office positions should not go to guys who have been punched in the head 1000 times. - PLindbergh31

I realize the suspensions and injuries happened and at least we didn't get caught as bad as Los Angeles did a few years ago when the had to dress only 19 players. But still for all the talk of this team being good cap wise it's still not optimum. |

No, it's not optimum because they're not $1 above the cap floor. But it's not as dire as it was even a year ago. |

I still can't quite believe they lost. And to a goal by Ryan White and his stupid hippie haircut.
Has anyone run the numbers on how the Flyers have done recently on nights with delayed starts due to ceremonies? |

In all honesty, that's not how an NHL front office works. A good executive doesn't want yes men, and those who won't express their opinion, due to not wanting to be disrespectful. If Hextall was that way, he wouldn't be the GM today. I think it's a false narrative to believe that Hextall wasn't in favor of the deal. - MJL
He may have voiced an opinion and been overruled by his boss. My point was that he may have not felt that signing or not signing AMac wasn't a big enough issue to make a stand on. It does not mean that he was fully in favor of the deal |

Hey, have you ever worked for an NHL front office? If not, then you don't know how these things work.
As assistant GM, if your views differ from that of the GM, he is obligated to do what you prefer. In reality, the GM has to make sure that any move he wants to make gets full approval from his assistant.
These are facts. |

Just getting to the highlights now. That goal did suck but also how does the previous one stand? If chychrun instigates the fight and a penalty is being called on him and ari has the puck then it's supposed to be blown down. Did they say he scored before the fight? What a bizarre game - Hextall271
I was there and probably 3/4 of the arena had no idea a goal was scored. We all watched Schenn's big hit then the fight, then it was over and the refs were huddled up and we're all looking around like what's going on? A few people said Arizona scored and we were all really confused. I'm not sure how it wasn't blown dead but I guess he scored before the fight? I don't know, it was really strange. Rough game.
Also, what's up with Hak not pulling Mason until a minute left??? They were in Arizona's end with almost 2 minutes left, down by 2, and Mason is just standing in the net, not even halfway to the bench! We were screaming in the seats to pull him. Then we score with 14 seconds left but by then it's too late. What the (frank) was that all about!!! |

I wasn't as disgusted with this goal as I was with the Dan Carcillo goal in the playoffs against NYR a few years back, but it was still a pretty nauseating goal.
White had no right to score that goal from there. |
