My football season ended once Ben went down, so sure, let's go Eagles!

Edit: Actually, thanks to Cincinnati and Baltimore taking a few bumps and the Browns being the Browns, they're not out of it.

Am I alone with the excitement of the expansion draft? The possibility of an average player we don't really need is appealing to me but I do want to hear your worst case scenario. Also the possibility of moving on from Streit, Schultz, Vandevelde and possibly Bellemare is interesting to me as well. In this case we get younger and some money comes off the books. I'm enjoying this season while looking ahead.

I thought my fantasy season ended once Ben went down but I'm still hanging around. Not a Steelers fan but god do I love Antonio Brown. He may be my favorite NFL player.

I am excited for it. My brother works for an airport so we plan to travel out and catch the Flyers.

And I am glad they might not be terrible. Look at the Coyotes, yes I know they beat the Flyers, they still struggle to be good most of the time.

I am very excited because I've never experienced an expansion draft. I was only 8 or 9 when Wild expansion draft happened so was too young to grasp or understand it. Im excited for it for the Flyers and for the league as a whole. I honestly wish NHL17 implemented Vegas and the expansion so I could play around a little bit lol. We also face more decisions with our roster at the end of this season compared to recent seasons as you have mentioned, and we actually should have some spending money in free agency if Hexy decides to go that route.

The atory of his career
- JoeRussomanno

He's scored 20+ goals (pro-rated for 12-13) per season for six straight seasons. And led the league in points over that period.

Quite a story.

Just to be clear, he said "atory" of his career. This invalidates your post. Sorry, but someone has to be in charge of the facts.

so sick of you fact checkers deciding the debate. You're the referees of intellectual sport, you just want to be the story

Hexy as assistant GM helped negotiate that deal in the first place. So, yes, he was absolutely on board with it.
- bmeltzer

I'm not sure how this invalidates what others have said though, Bill. If your boss gives you a project to work on, you're going to work on it, personal opinions aside. I'm sure he did work on negotiations, as part of his job, but that doesn't prove or disprove that he was gung-ho about it. I think that Hextall deserves some blame for that contract, and his total absolving is more wishful thinking. But it's such a weird contract that flies in the face of everything he has done at GM. He hasn't made panic signings, he's been incredibly deliberate and patient, he's recognized the rebuild, it took him all of 1 year to just send AMac down to the AHL. It's just so unlike Hextall in his tenure as GM. And it was so very very much like Holmgren to sign a FA (to be) to a bloated contract to contend NOW, ignoring any warning signs.

There were articles at the time of Hextall's promotion saying Homer had all intentions of continuing on as GM, but Mr. Snider convinced him to take on his current role due to rumors of Hextall being hired as GM elsewhere, like Washington. For all we know, had everything gone to plan, Hextall may not have been GM for another couple years. The timeline got accelerated.

There are still openings to meet Hextall at the Carnival next month if anyone here wants to bring this up with him directly.

Also, it's difficult for me to entirely believe that Hextall would purposefully negotiate the salary to increase on the AMac contract year-by-year, so when he would presumably get the role of GM, AMac would be making almost $6 million real dollars per year. That's something a short-sighted lame duck would do.

Tell me something? Have you been satisfied with the product that this organization has put out as a whole over the past 5 years?
- JoeRussomanno

No not really, however, Hextall has taken over now for the last few years and has a new approach of building through the draft and developing their own players so I am willing to be patient instead of female dog and moan about every dumb little thing. People wanted change of approach but aren't willing to be patient while the change happens. Can't have it both ways

I can't remember how old I was when the Preds, Wild, Jackets and whoever the other team was entered the league but I feel exactly the same. I see an opportunity an advantage for the Flyers this coming summer. We lose older players at the right time this summer and I feel like whoever we lose at the draft will be someone we can shrug off. I like Raffl, I don't love him. I like Read, I don't love him. I like Weise so far but I don't love him. Even if they take Laughton, I'll be fine. I think once he's activated from LTIR, I think he's getting sent down. Even if he isn't, it's sad we expect him to be a 4th player. The players we need protected will get protected.

Hextall did the same thing with the Couturier contract.

Obviously, a shorter/frontloaded deal for MacDonald would have been better, but if they expected him to fall off a cliff they wouldn't have signed him in the first place.

Is two assists and no goals in 7 games considered elite?

Asking for a friend from Chicago.

I didn't know that. They are two different contracts though. One was for an unrestricted free agent to-be who will be 33 the final year of the contract. The other is for a player, banking on upside, who will be in his prime and 28 starting his final year. I can't imagine a scenario where Coots is traded or needs to be moved. Doesn't have to do so much with falling off a cliff, but rather flexibility via trade. Plus $4.75 mil for Coots his final year is probably still under-valued.
