Lous amazing at finding goalies, Anderson will be fine. Remember that time he traded for that guy everyone in the league knew was an up and coming bona-fide number 1 goalie and that why teams were willing to move top 10 pick for him? He knows how to find goalies!! |
|
|

Understood. I'm not necessarily talking about his level of play
More so his level of influence from outside sources (ie. fans)
But one thing I noticed. It seems like the Leafs have asked him to play a certain way. The Sportsnet guys mentioned it last night and, when asked about it, Andersen said he didn't want to get into it.
My question is why they would trade for a guy, pay him like a #1, and then tell him to play differently than the way that made him successful to begin with - WingmanWillie
It almost seems like when acquiring a goalie, the team should also acquire his goaltending coach.
that being said, i saw a tweet where the Leafs' goalie coach said they have not asked him to change anything at this point. Said they were letting him do things his way until they get a better picture of what he is.. |

Meh, I think that's looking too far ahead at this point in time. Every player gets into ruts.
That's a discussion that could be had with more information at the 30-40 game mark. - Nastradamus
Well they have 5 years to find out.
I personally doubt fan pressure will make any difference. |

The leafs are not in a position to be playing with Fire like that. |

Well...he managed to find two in 30 years so I guess that qualifies as "amazing!" |

market pressure certainly will make a difference this early in to his time here. Just look at Babcock's reaction to media pestering
to live and work with relative anonymity for most of your career, and then suddenly be thrown into a pressure cooker where every mistake is scrutinized on the front of every media outlet... that's a big change

The second we'll have real veteran "stay at home D" and get rid of Polak/Hunwick/Marincin... we should start seeing the bright light.. atleast give Andersen a chance to save pucks. |

Random observation.
Nylander is significantly stronger on the puck this year. That was my main issue with him last year and I didn't feel like he was NHL ready at the time as a result. What a huge difference, I guess he didn't leave the gym all summer. He's really damn good, it's crazy. - daeth
Officially listed as 6'0 and 190lbs.
I guess we can officially move on from the "he's too small" rhetoric... |

I still think even with Price in net, we would have lost. Maybe not as bad cause he's on another level.. but that's how bad half our Ds are unfortunately. Not even a super-goalie could save us right now. |

The spectacular save on Hedman left all alone at the side of the net followed seconds later by the Hedman goal, all alone at the front of the net was a good example of this. Forwards were to blame as much as the D here though.
At the same time, even when he makes saves, he's looking less than comfortable. |
