The argument is that Mac was originally defending Radulov, who continued to skate to the other side of the slot, and ended up being the lone player in front of Mason. The shot was deflected as you said, but it was pretty freaking slow.. Im fairly confident that Mason's foot speed would have prevented that one... - jak521
Schenn's deflection came from pretty far out so I would bet almost any goalie will say they should have had that IF they could see it. There was no way Mason could see that.
Everyone seems to say he is what he is, and while his ceiling is obviously limited, he has still played less than 100 games in his career. - YuenglingJagr
He's been the most consistent of them all this season, and really it hasn't been close
Maybe his bar isn't that high, but there is something to be said for doing the job well that you are on the roster to do. He has been the least of their problems this season, to this point

I'm not into killing anyone on that play, because Schenn did get a stick on it and MacDonald was trying to help. It was just bad luck
I do think Mason might have stopped it, but at the same time, it's hard for me to fault MacDonald -- not that you are -- for trying to get there and do something. It just didn't work out
Although Nick Schultz skated the least ice time among Flyers' defensemen on Monday -- which is frequently a predictor of whom is the likeliest to sit, based on play relative to their roles, Mark Streit or Andrew MacDonald are also candidates to be scratched.
Streit got almost six minutes more at ES than Schultz, which seems to indicate the coach still has a lot of faith in him.

I think he can still develop and get better, but I still don't think he'll evolve past a bottom-pair defender at the NHL level. Not that it's a bad thing, I just think that he has a very limited ceiling at this point.

I thought of this last night.
Manning is almost like Therian was to Dejarsdins.
Provorov has a long way to go but they seem to mesh well and have a comfort level.
Right now the Streit - Schultz pairing scare me almost as bad as the Krijeck pairing from a few years back.

Streit just looks bad, Again, it's still early on, but he just looks so bad right now. I know he's a veteran/leader guy out there, but he's just not contributing anything positive on either side of the puck right now. At least Schultz is giving you exactly what you expected.

I'd say he might be the only flyers player who every season since he was what 18 ? Has actually gotten better. Every year he makes small incremental improvements. I've argued since prior to the season he deserves a lineup spot over our aging vets. I'm not saying he's a future number 1 but having someone who actively works on his game is a lot more enticing than people whose game continues to decline.

It wasnt an easy one for MacDonald to stop, but as Mason has said and pretty much any goalie would say, if you screen him you need to block the shot. I think his angle was a little off in the first place and if he is in the right position he both doesnt screen Mase and probably has the shot hit him

What scared me about Streit yesterday is that he was brutal on the PP, too
I understand that he is a 38-year-old defender playing in a league dominated by youth and speed, so I fully realize that he is not going to be what he once was
But at some point, yeah, you gotta bring something to the party, and he was brutal in every zone and on every unit last night. That doesn't mean he cannot play better, but yeah, last night was pretty bad

I get scared when speed is on the ice because both guys are just flat out slow.

I forget who it was that blew right by him (not Byron) but he almost looked as bad as PEB when he got cooked.
