Last night's game was pretty evenly played I thought, and it really came down to that late PP. Once it got called, just had that feeling.
And my oh my, Montreal fans really do think that every hit on a Habs player is a penalty. |

LOL so true
I think it is a stupid penalty anyway, but I guess slashing someone's stick in half is only a penalty if there isn't a delayed call against you already |

What is that I see? Jake Voracek tied for #5 in the NHL in points? Claude Giroux tied for #10 and #1 in assists?
Pretty Eliteā¢, I'd say. - Mononoke

You really just knew they were going to score on that. I expected Weber but still was a shot from the point. The only thing that bothered me about that call was the refs let the game go on a couple of questionable missed penalties on both sides just a few minutes before. |

It was almost like they were saying, hey, we screwed up by not calling a penalty earlier on the shift, so we'll call this ticky tack play. Simmonds needs to realize when he's gotten away with one, and not continue to give them an excuse to make a call. On the delay, a stick slashed in half should be the same regardless of whether there is already a call made.
On the Weber goal, MacDonald did a poor job of screening his own goaltender. I honestly think that Mason has a real good chance of making that save, if he's allowed to see the puck. |

I'm just happy they have Boyd Gordon winning all those key late game defensive zone draws. Where would they be without him? |

The shot that broke Schwinn's stick and redirected into traffic? How was he supposed to save it unless he was lucky? Almost impossible to track that one. |

If he was able to see it, it looked like he could've saved it. He didnt even react to it. He just went to the butterfly and hoped for the best, which is all he could do with MacDonald screening him |

As bad as Gordon has been on faceoffs, he leads the team in FO%.
Gordon - 51.06%
Giroux - 48.84%
Coots - 46.24%
Bellemare - 46.03%
VDV is over 60% but I think he has only taken like 4. |

At least Brayden Schenn had a role in something going into the net last night.

Gordon has been 55+% over the last 9 years, of course he's only 51% so far this year. I guess 6 games is a small sample, but I'm sure this will be his worst faceoff year in the last decade. |

Yes, generally when a goaltender sees a puck they have a very good chance at making a save.

To be fair, he can't track what he can't see because a defenseman is trying to play the same position as Mason.

There was a play early on when a Habs player tried to skate through 4 guys. Schultz (I think) planted him firmly on his ass. The entire arena stood up and started screaming for a call. Minutes later, a different player did his best Bill Barber impersonation and Supermanned from an imaginary trip, same thing.
It is hockey. Sometimes, your players will be knocked down. It is not always a penalty. |
