Gostisbehere has been the weak link defensively on the pairing.

That's absurd.

No it's not absurd. Gostisbehere is not a great defender to start with, and he's struggled in his own end this year.

I had a friend in town last night from out of state. We were both bemoaning the time we were going to have to invest watching the players Hextall acquired over the last three summers while he tried to navigate cap issues and keep the team afloat.

I'm ready to shed those guys but apparently they don't believe that the kids are all ready yet. Free agency isn't what it used to be and trades are more difficult. The waiting is tough.

I took a step back myself. No need to expose myself to torture. They are on the up and all that rainbows/unicorns but 2010 is a long time ago.

It certainly is, and a lot of players, including the forwards have been guilty. The Flyers overall team defense has been sub par this season, to this point, in my opinion. It's not just on the defenseman. The problem is some fans have to have their scapegoats, and they like to make excuses for players they favor, rather than looking at it objectively.

So what you showed me is he's a plus player per 60.

Fancy stats can be interpreted to suit your needs.

Someone harps on that all the time.

Agreed. However, I still think AMac sucks, and Streit doesn't have much left in the tank.

I didn't interpret anything. I simply showed the GA/60 stat for when Gostisbehere is on the ice. I don't need a stat to know that Gostisbehere has been off to a slow start in his individual play this year.

I don't think MacDonald sucks, and I hope that Streit can improve. I see other issues, rather than a player who is cooked.

Streit hasn't really been the same since he lost his pubes. We will see who sits tonight. It may be telling.

I believe Schultz is a healthy scratch tonight, which I don't totally agree with on merit, but I understand it.

I agree with all the points you have made about Gudas and the team as a whole with certain players needing to wipe some rust off. But I am not all that worried (yet). Expecting Gudas to come in and be in his form towards the end of last season is an easy route that leads to disappointment.

I think the team misses a little edge overall to be honest. Quite robotic a lot of the time. None of that "after the whistle" type of stuff really.

So, it looks like Read is 1LW, Schenn 3RW. I'm ok with that.

But everything else is the same. PEB 3C, Cousins 3LW, VDV 4LW. No Travis Leier.

They need to spend more time killing penalties.
