At least Coots is speculatively in.
Schultz out for Gudas. Gudas paired with Streit. The Mac-Ghost pairing will just not die. I'm sorry, but there's no justification for AMac being in still. He's been bad by the eye test alone. - Mononoke
MacDonald hasn't been bad at all. He's had a few bad shifts here and there, but overall, he has not been bad.

They've all been mediocre, just degrees of mediocrity. I also wanted Ghost with a different partner. Idgaf who Streit is with. - Mononoke
As long as we keep Provorov away from Streit I'm happy. That combo was not working. Maybe revisit it later but not right now. |

Dave Isaac tweeted that Leier may come in even if Coots plays. There are "possibilities."
Ok, so for Cousins probably. |

Ghost's partner is dragging him down every bit as much. It pains me. I want him to be embraced in the gentle bosom of Radko. |

Streit has been the weakest link on defense. MacDonald has had a few shifts a game, that he could clean up, but otherwise, has provided his normal reliable play. It was decided long before camp started last year, that Manning was going to make the team, and that they were going to give him a shot. I would disagree that Manning sucked last year. - MJL
The best way I can explain Streit is this. He's offensively gifted from the blue line and he wears a letter on his left chest. I didn't say this in my explanation and keep in mind that I had nightmares of the Kane goal in the first minute in Chicago. Regardless of who started the mistake, Streit was a hologram. Kane went through him like nobody was there for the wrap around. With this said I don't think we have an objective coach hints why Vandevelde is on the roster at all. I think Vandevelde brings nothing. Streit brings something. A lot has been made of the leadership in the past three years, which is why I think Streit is still here. I would have traded him last summer. |

He was abominable last night in the two periods I watched. His bad plays were just crippling. I feel bad for him because he'll put together two or three good shifts and then you're just slapping your forehead in disbelief. IMO Ghost has been hesitant as hell at the point as far as pressing the play forward. He's almost guarded back there and it's hindering his game on offense.
In the end it's about the team and wins. You have to make changes right now. Not a panic but even six games in you have to encourage what's working and eliminate what isn't if you're not getting points.
They have to tighten up on D as a team immediately. |

Streit brings that leadership which I do think helps.
I disagree about the offensive talent. He has a shot and at this point thats where it ends. The dude couldnt make one damn pass. |

To me this is playoff Ghost from last year. Teams didnt wake up to the fact he was a threat until later last season. He will have to realise he now gets extra attention, just like all the better players do. He either excels or falters.
To me the kid is playing too conservative. Whether thats because of linemates who knows. |

#Flyers announce forward Michael Raffl has been placed on the injured reserve - no other details. Hence, the call-up of F Taylor Leier. - PhillySportsGuy

Leier is an excellent PKer too, so he can do that. Lyubimov is an excellent PKer, so he can do that. Both are better than VDV at every facet of the game. All you can do is chuckle and punch yourself in the Richard. |

Yeah but Streit's history suggests he's an offensively gifted defenseman. He has a goal this year. This is all we have to go by.
My issue with Schultz this season is not his defensive game. I don't expect this guy to collect us or himself points. It's just that I expect him to help keep his more offensively gifted players in the offensive zone while they create chances. Instead he gets the puck, shoots and either misses the net or shoots the puck so weak it's an easy grab for the goalie. Some creativity is needed on the team and he's been around long enough to have at least some knowledge of the concept. |

So that means Coots can save his energy for 5v5. Splendid! |
