For the record, I understand Streit's role and have never expected much defensively. I agree that Mac should sit but for me it's always has been Mac or Schultz. Some have made a case for Schultz but I don't think he's been good either.

I want to throw out an interesting concept out there. Now, I know the moment I choose to not be on the same sugar high as others and be a little critical or objective towards players, the majority assume I hate this player. Can and point, I thought Brandon Manning sucked last year and if Del Zotto doesn't get hurt and MacDonald isn't over priced, I don't think Manning makes the team one year ago. At the very least, his chances are slim. Now I think he deserves all the credit he is getting. With all of this said, certain vets have had a slow start. Rookies have made mistakes. There is some clear rust with more players than others. So far I've read that Gudas is an upgrade in this area over player X. While a player like Brayden Schenn has had a slow start, Schenn's camp was really solid. My point is, I don't expect Gudas to step in and fix everything. I like Gudas. While reckless at times, I think he fills a need. Do I expect him to be an upgrade over Streit, Schultz and MacDonald? My answer is, I expect him to only be better than Mac who I think has been our weakest link in all three zones on defense.

Streit has been the weakest link on defense. MacDonald has had a few shifts a game, that he could clean up, but otherwise, has provided his normal reliable play. It was decided long before camp started last year, that Manning was going to make the team, and that they were going to give him a shot. I would disagree that Manning sucked last year.

They've all been mediocre, just degrees of mediocrity. I also wanted Ghost with a different partner. Idgaf who Streit is with.

Honestly though? Lets get real. The line up decisions blow at times, but when you are having to choose having to play 2 out of Schultz, MacDonald and Streit you have bigger problems.

Not to mention 2 of your other d-men barely have pubes.
