I'd say the D isn't playing as well as they are capable of playing.
And the players on the PP have shown they're better.
The goalies have shown they're better.
The drafting and player development is better now than it's been for at least 10 years.
The only people that haven't shown a decent track record are the coaches.
The players are trying but the team looks as bad as I've ever seen it.
How is that not on the coaches?

Or...as a fan its easier to place blame on coaching as fans have a tendency to fall in love with their players. |

Not a huge fan of the upcoming draft class. Certainly doesn't have the high end depth last year did.
Patrick and Liljegrin look great, but if we're picking top two we have bigger problems. |

I was listening to Boomer and Rhett the other day and I think Boomer made a good point in reference to coaching, systems, schemes, etc.: How much different are the systems that are implemented? Obviously there are differences in coaching and philosophy but at the core of the systems they're basically all the same. I heard that and thought it was a good point. |

The young core is good but inexperienced. The rest of the team are below average plumbers...but these guys will tell you Bouma, Backlund ,Ferland, ect are great. |

Not really sold on this coach yet! I watch him back there doesn't seem to have any passion. It's like ho hum!! Let's roll the lines like its pee wee hockey!! It's
Like like he's not in charge he really needs to get on these players and start making them accountable.. If your going to make dumb play after dumb play like a flip pass through the neutral then you sit! And if it keeps happening then sit up in the box. And we will bring a guy in from the far to take your spot. The whole team looks defensively confussed. |

I said it at the time, and still think so today. Trading for Hamilton effed up the progression and rebuild of the team. - Hunkulese
Don't forget your meds..... you're being dumb again. He's still just a kid. |

Sounds like youre looking for an old school coach. Didnt you guys have Mike Keenan for a short while? |

No kidding. You basically got a guy that is 4 years ahead of anyone you could have drafted, assuming you drafted someone that even as good. Be thankful. |

Wasn't gulutzan the assistant in van last year. And Vancouver looked horrible! He leaves and the Canucks look like one of the best teams. now gulutzan is in Calgary and they look like the worst team right now in the league coinsadence hmmm!! |

I guess you have a point. It does make a lot more sense to blame 23 employees rather than the office manager when the customers are unhappy. |

Nevertheless GG isn't going to set any record for the shortest tenure as an NHL coach (although he could still go faster than Hartley did - after 7 games in 2007.)
The record belongs to Paul Thompson - not the player obviously - who was fired after 1 game coaching the Black Hawks in 44-45.
Here's a list of the fastest firings since 1995. We may be able to slot GG in here before Christmas at the rate they're going.

I remember snorting my drink when I heard him tell an interviewer that he didn't want to be a porcupine at a balloon party. Sigh....the good old days when the only direction was up. ...wait a mo... |

Based on last night I have no idea why Tkachuk isn't playing every day. Prob most tipped/ intercepted passes ive seen in 5 years.
No one on the flames wants to hold the blueline. |

Hmmm, please remind me how well Tod Macllelan did in his first year with the Oilers. They were something like 2nd last in the league. 82 games of futility.
6 games in and people are already calling for Gulutzans head!?! He's a new coach, it's going to take some time people... |

Backs is a great 2 way 2nd or 3rd line centre, he's just off to a slow start. |
