Sure wins are key.... but they weren't snoozer game gamers either ... the first one had less chances given the line combos
Bu hey can we have our cake and eat it too ....?....why not with the good two way capability .... would be possible with adding JV and Rodin to the line up... hmmm - Nuck4U
Yeah, I think getting both those guys back in would help for entertainment value. The games for sure haven't been boring, but there is definitely excitement that comes naturally with knowing we have a chance to win most nights/the ability to come back when down in a game. |

Worst case scenario for Vancouver
They'll win just enough to scrape into the playoffs, or finish just out of them, never finishing low enough to get their next future Superstar to carry the torch after the Sedins leave (or inevitable slow into a 2nd line/support role)
5 more years of Benning and no real playoff success, will lead to a change in management and another 5 years of rebuild
Trying to win now is just kicking the can down the road - TheGame316

Cool story, where did Boston draft their superstars? Detroit? Rangers? LA got Doughty 2nd overall, but what about the rest of those guys? Cup winning Ducks found Perry and Getzlaf in the bottom of a first round. Development of the players is important, Canucks are well on their way to doing it right with Utica and not rushing kids into the lineup by bringing in vets, high draft picks mean very little |

This is not an old decaying team of veterans scraping by.... it's a mix group on a rebuild and more pieces are coming .... by draft now more then ever BB, Demko, etc. so winning is part of development... why we play the games.... you can't plan to fail just to get top draft picks |

Just finished playing hockey, man I'm getting old, a few flashes of brilliance today but the older you get the harder it is. I'm going to be a grandpa next year, so I should lower my expectations out there I guess |

they're playing well, if they can stay healthy and keep things tight defensively they'll be fine. |

I agree with most of what you said but the reality is that high draft picks mean quite a lot. There are always outliers but the majority of elite talent comes from the top 5 picks.
Top talent doesn't necessarily lead to championships though. I think there is an obvious corrilation between high draft picks and high end talent. Winning the cup takes a lot more than having the best players. |

Of course youre picking out the negatives Eeyore!!!!
Your second paragraph is along the lines of what I meant though, Edmonton stockpiled top draft talent and is hasnt translated to much overall success |

Spot on!!!!!!! Sometimes smart drafting works out better than tanking! Only reason tanking will work for the Oilers now is cuz they got McJesus. Wasn't working too well before him.
Anyways, lets start the parade on Burrard st, then head to robson...... |

IMO the talent chosen over the past 10+ years seems to be more consistant with meeting expectations.
Alexander Ovechkin
Sidney Crosby
Patrick Kane
Steven Stamkos
John Tavares
Taylor Hall
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nathan MacKinnon
Aaron Ekblad
Connor McDavid
Auston Matthews
Busts are becoming less regular. Kids are more prepared to enter the NHL right away. Scouting process has become more scientific. I just think landing a young superstar is much more likely these days. |

It's got to be ticker tape so start at Rogers, move along Georgia, finish at Lord Stanley's statue in Stanley Park. Perfect. |
