Brandon Pirri at 4C is so bad defensively that Boyd Gordon may even be able to dominate in his zone.

I'm honestly whatever on Gordon at this point. I question some of the narrative surrounding him, but he's a decent shot suppressor and if you put speed on his wings (like PEB and Lyubimov), he can do a decent enough job. VDV needs to be deep sixed. And PEB needs to be on the 4th where he belongs. It's just looney promoting a mediocre possession and scoring 4C to 3C and calling it an upgrade. PEB worries me a lot more than Boyd.

I don't think the team has a bonafide 3rd line center but I'm not sure why the plug has been pulled, hopefully only temporarily on Cousins at 3C. Cousins should be manning one of the center positions. Why would you move him to wing? The kid has never played it. Put him with strong defensive wings like Raffl and Read or Weise and let him create. If healthy I'd want

Gordon's skating is not an issue. You're basing that number on a 3 game sample. Look at Gordon's faceoff numbers the last couple of seasons.

Priceless. It's truly story book. Matthews is awesome and so is Laine, but after Matthews' first game or two, Leafs fans were getting balloon heads even bigger than their usual balloon heads. This wonderfully sticks a pin in that.
