I think, when watching in small segments, they can really throw you off if you don't use the eye test, too. Have to use both, to me

One good thing is that while the Coyotes are really fast, the Flyers have improved their team speed to the degree where it's not awful. There are things that the Flyers could have done better in this game so far, but we have all seen games in other seasons where this kind of sustained speed would have broken them.

They can still get a point out of this or win it. I think they will

There is literally one person on the planet who doesn't use the eye test in conjunction with stats. Hint: he's a blogger on the site. Most of the people who track the stats actually watch games multiple times fwiw.

And yes, stats in SSS are murky.

Jonathan Marchessault has 4 points in 2 games for the Panthers filling in for Huberdeau. He was signed in the offseason for like 2 years at 750k a pop. He really had strong underlying possession and scoring stats in Tampa as a depth player and fans really liked him. He was someone who intrigued me as a bottom 6 player for us, but alas he is a #small-fry.

It's so early yet, but I don't see any real chemistry with Weise and his linemates. I think Cousins has looked good, but I wonder if PEB is the right fit there. Really need Schenn back so they can move Raffl down, and I sure hope they let Cousins center that

Cousins should be centering that line and PEB should be on the 4th line (if that)

Manning has been good. Koncecny and Giroux are noticeable. Provorov looks good for a rookie defenseman against a team that can skate...this is why he needed to be here. He hasn't been flawless, but he has to see this kind of speed so he can adapt

MacDonald was better last night. Voracek and Read are working but aren't impacting the game yet

Top line is killing it in the cycle game. Raffl is possessed on the boards, G looks better, Simmer too. 2nd line has been solid too in the 2nd, but they didn't play much in the 1st due to special teams. Konecny has had a couple electric plays. I think Jake and Coots could do a little more. 4th line has been OK...VDV is invisible but smelly crap again. Read has been eh. 3rd line with 3C PEB has been a complete mess. Provy been efficient -- gorgeous passing. Not much doing from the Frankenstein back end though. Ghost has had a couple great chances too. Mason hasn't been his best.

With Mason, one thing I have noticed in glancing around the league: Puck tracking and rebound control for a good number of goalies has been severely lacking. Hope that some of that is going to be cleared up quickly

Provorov continues to do what he has to do. V encouraging. Koncency driving play is great as well.

This is where I am really hoping Morin makes it or Gudas decides to play more games than he is suspended. Doan is hitting us with Old Man Strength down low and they are struggling with it

Matt Read really fourth the effort. Moving his feet. Putting himself in the right spots. He's just lost that touch.
