It seemed like he had a pretty good showing with the Oilers... Not sure what the (frank) happened! They're saying the deal with Calgary is 900k...

I don't think it's his agent. I think it was his mom the whole time. Look at the hints:

1. Johnny said from the get-go, he wants to stay in Calgary, and would sign matching contracts with Moni (he doesn't care about the money)
2. Right after Johnny signed, the Flames FB page re-posted their segment on his mom, and literally the entire post is her whining about how Johnny is too far away from home.
3. In another article, it said Treliving went to NYC not just to negotiate and speak with his agent, but also his parents. They were clearly a big factor in the decision-making.
4. As for the 8 million ask: For all we know, Eric Francis is completely unreliable and could have lied. If it's true and I had to guess: Lewis Gross is a relatively new agent and wanted to earn big bucks and make a name for himself, knowing his marketability and how his mom wanted him to stay out East.

5. Johnny's tweet said he "decided". Seems like he was tired of his agent and his parents nudging him to sign for more or go closer to home. He ultimately "decided" that he personally wanted to play hockey in Calgary at the end of the day with his teammates and fans. The money never mattered to him at all. As such, he thanks his parents and agents in that same tweet.
